You have no concept of numbers do you? A Ford-class aircraft carrier costs $13 billion. My old school district in Florida (one county) had an annual budget of $1.36 billion dollars. That means one county in Florida spent almost one-third as much as the federal government gave to Israel. How much did the federal government spend on education? That puts it into a lot better perspective of how small that sum really is.

That's not the point. The point is hardship for the American people. If Americans have to do without, surely you wouldn't wanna assist a foreign WEALTHY nation with billions per year. It's America first, remember?

With all due respect Lisa, your concept of large numbers suck. To get the budget down by$1 trillion you have to cut 10%? You think the federal budget is $10 trillion? Try again. It's nowhere near that high. The budget deficit for this year is several trillions. The budget is less than $10 trillion at about $6.5 trillion. Cutting the budget only reduces the deficit. The national debt will always increase if you have a budget deficit. Most people just don't get that, including most members of Congress.

True, that won’t stop the debt from growing, but it will slow down the rapid decline to an economic collapse. I am looking at what can reasonably be accomplished in 10 years.

Yes, but be reasonable: we cannot jump right into eliminating the deficit so quickly. The government was bloated during the one year I worked there 45 years ago, and it’s gotten worse every year since.

I say cutting the deficit by half in 10 years is a realistic initial goal.

It will take at least a year to even identify functions of all the redundant departments and another year to plan out how to consolidate, at least three years to locate property in cheaper locales in the mid-West and build out government complexes.
