2) He said “temporary hardship” in order to achieve “long-term prosperity.” That’s what responsible people do.

Responsible people do not nominate a slate of clowns, crooks and yes men to implement an undefined reconstruction of the government.

Especially, since this reconstruction isn’t in any aid of specific objectives or results.

An alleged radical makeover staffed by incompetents is doomed to failure from the outset.

The first thing we do is:

1) get all the government slackers back to the office, instead of allowing them to “work” from home where many run errands, go to the gym, go to the pool, get in a “quick” nine hikes of golf, change the oil in their car, etc., etc. Do that, and we could eliminate redundant positions.

2) reduce in department’s spending by 1% (a REAL decrease, not a drop in the amount of increase) each year until we have cut government spending by 4% over 2024 levels.

3) set up a confidential “snitch” line for employees to report waste and abuse, and give a reward of 5% of the savings.

- For example, the year I worked for the government, I saw my boss use $14 franked envelopes for a major mailing when the $1.80 ones were sufficient (because he didn’t want to wait a day for the correct encelopes to arrrive). The additional cost was $20,000.
