Elon Musk said this in May of this year:Are you under the impression that Elon Musk isn't already intimately familiar with President Trumps plans regarding tariffs?
Given Elon's public pronouncements and his accepting an advisory position with the new Administration I suspect he's figured out exactly how these proposals would affect his businesses and is okay with the consequences.

- “Tesla competes quite well in the market in China with no tariffs and no deferential support,” Musk said. “I’m in favor of no tariffs.”
Right now, speculating that this is a problem between them makes more sense than thinking that Musk has accepted it and is going with Trumps wishes. This is money and Musk's reputation in China and one would think that it is important to Musk. Nonetheless,I do not think this will be cleared up until January,
