Now, who would have thought the former president would back down on campaign promises.
Lower prices on food and goods... ain't gonna happen.
Tariffs?

"During his presidential campaign, Trump claimed he would impose “universal tariffs" of up to 20 percent on all goods imported to the United States. Economists and many congressional Republicans criticized the plan as potentially "disruptive," warning that American consumers would immediately feel the pinch at the grocery store"

"However, Trump's aides are now said to be considering imposing the tariffs only on "certain sectors deemed critical to national or economic security," according to Washington Post White House economics reporter Jeff Stein"

And this is before the Turd-in-Chief is even officially sworn in.

The Progressives had all the answers before the 2020 steal. People were begging for relief soon after the Progs took over. Remember their promises? They kept agendas for their own benefit. Tey had warnings. And still kept the defenders of the realm direction going. The "Joe, I did that" sticker on gas pumps should have shaken the Progs up. Instead, they laughed and continually called half the nation nasty names as they did during and before Trump's first term. Democracy! Democracy! Democracy! The cry always heard while ruling like Communists when empowered.

The Weirdo Whiners have come out in force on this thread. :laughing0301:

Damn and the idiots on the left always claim Fox News is bad.
Funny that they always follow crazy reporting from far left made up stories and msn and cnn who have the worst viewership in the country because they fail at reporting the news so badly.

Every country protected it's vital industries except one. USA. Why? Because the rich and corporations wanted to break our unions. Because WE have the highest paid uneducated blue collar workers in the world. So we didn't protect our vital industries like car manufacturing. That was on purpose.

And Bill Clinton did put worker and environmental protections in NAFTA before he signed it. Did Bush/Chaney remove those regulations? You bet your sweet ass they did.

So I'm glad Trump is going to tariff some stuff and not all. There are some things that should be tariffed more. Some countries who need to be dealt with. Like China. And Mexico.

And if Canada is tariffing us, they need to stop.

"Trump says he will 'heal the country'" :auiqs.jpg: Will be the biggest lie

Let us start with these few tidbits:

Surrounded by family, Trump says he will 'heal the country'

Donald Trump took to the stage at his campaign watch party in West Palm Beach, Florida, and was met with loud cheers and chants of "USA, USA, USA".
There were lot of people on stage with him - including his running mate JD Vance, his wife Melania Trump and campaign staff.
The Republican told jubilant crowds in Florida: "America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate".

and...

Donald Trump: ‘We’re Going to Help Our Country Heal’

The former president claims victory as Associated Press, major networks call race for Trump
All of this while major MAGA people all over the web have been posting, supporting, and commenting on:

After Trump’s Victory, There Can Be No Unity Without A Reckoning

We can’t just say ‘Oh well we’re all Americans in the end’ and pretend that everything is okay. Everything is not okay.
"Those in the news media...They are enemies of the American people, whom they openly despise, and there can be no real unity with them no matter what they might say in the future
."
Needless to say there appears to be a bit of cognitive dissonance here. What motivated me to start this thread are news articles that keep popping up like this one:

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President-elect Donald Trump complained on Friday that American flags would still be lowered to half-staff in honor of the late President Jimmy Carter during Trump's Jan. 20 inauguration.

President Joe Biden ordered flags lowered to half-staff for 30 days from the day of Carter's death on Dec. 29, as is custom when a U.S. president dies.

Trump, who has announced plans to attend Carter's memorial service in Washington on Jan. 9, took issue in a Truth Social post on Friday with the flags remaining in the mourning position during his swearing-in ceremony.

"The Democrats are all 'giddy' about our magnificent American Flag potentially being at 'half mast' during my Inauguration," Trump said, employing a term frequently used for the lowered position when the flag is on a ship.

"They think it’s so great, and are so happy about it because, in actuality, they don’t love our Country, they only think about themselves," Trump said.

Trump said that due to Carter's death last week the American flag would "for the first time ever during an Inauguration of a future President, be at half mast."
"Nobody wants to see this, and no American can be happy about it. Let’s see how it plays out," he said.

White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said the White House had no plans to reconsider the decision.

Doesn't seem too healing to me. So let us keep a list, however incomplete, of how Trump fails to keep up with his sometimes lofty promises and statements.

312-226 Landslide. Seems the majority of the country are, how did you put it? People-of-the-Cult. Enjoy.

A little higher than I like, but considering how much the Bird Flu has affected the price, it doesn't look that bad to me. What else are you gonna get that tastes that good for 37.75 cents each?

Biden beat him to it when he promised to unify the country in 2021.
Trump is still unpopular. Can't even pass the 50% mark

Trump columns Opponents showing he gained 3.8% of the vote since 2016
... 46.1% ... 48.2% - 2016

... 46.8% ... 51.3% - 2020

... 49.9% ... 48.4% - 2024
Living in denial. Another typical democrat failing. I suppose you still believe Biden has all his wits about him. LMAO
