What’s the deal? A Newsmax article isn’t a reliable cite.

No, Trump was hoping 5% would quit saving the tax payers millions. I know a goverment worker that works from home. The only thing he does is get drunk all day. You, don't think they are going to rehire more? What planet do you live on?
Yep, chance to go find another job quickly. Some probably have some marketable skills. These government workers are being extended a kindness not offered to private workers. When WE work for a company that’s unprofitable, we are just laid off.
They’re actually lucky it’s being handled this way.
in the post office employees have been treated like shit for quite a while.....i cant see how it can get any worse....I spent almost 40 years working for the Government. We had some excellent engineers
What bothers me the most is chasing out CIA and NSA experts. I worked with some of those guys and they had skills you just don’t replace with a Help Wanted MAGA sign
Why would anyone want to work for the Government after seeing how employees are treated
Exactly what I thought. Anyone retiring within the next year gets an early start. So there shouldn't be a big impact to productivity because they should have given their supervisors a heads-up.Most are probably retiree's whose position will be filled again.
I just ran a query on our organization and post COVID (last 3 years) we've averaged 1.5% of the workforce has retired each year.
Which is why I say most of the 40,000 that have accepted Trump offer are likely those already retiring this year anyway. WW
Millions of U.S. government workers face a Thursday deadline to tell the Trump administration whether they will accept a buyout offer or remain in their jobs, but still face the possibility of being thrown out of work if they decide to stay.
President Donald Trump's aggressive drive to reduce the size of the government in a matter of weeks is unprecedented. It has caused turmoil in the U.S. capital, and sparked protests and union warnings that it might violate multiple laws.
More than 40,000 federal employees had accepted the buyout offer as of Wednesday night.

Warp Speed, baby
Warp Speed.
A truly fantastic time to be alive in the USA.
Actually, Government has to work with the private sector. Most of what is bought comes from the private sector.Yeah, heaven forbid top talent has to go to work in the private sector and actually work on producing something of actual value.![]()
Well at least he’s not at the pool all summer, hogging a good chair in the shade. In my libtard neighborhood, the pool is packed with government “workers” from early afternoon til suppertime. No, Trump was hoping 5% would quit saving the tax payers millions. I know a goverment worker that works from home. The only thing he does is get drunk all day.
sorry billie lots of them work there for the benefits.....Most Government worker are there because it is much easier than working in the private sector.
Career Government Workers are simply not the best and the brightest
Sorry, not sorry.
The pool accepting the offer will be the recently hired and nearly retiredExactly what I thought. Anyone retiring within the next year gets an early start. So there shouldn't be a big impact to productivity because they should have given their supervisors a heads-up.
I was thinking that making workers report in-person by 24JAN would have a much bigger impact on vacancies, apparently not???
The plan isn't to replace those workers taking buyouts, the plan is attrition, and the primary justification is the recent overturning of Chevron by SCOTUS (i.e. the regulatory agencies are engaged in activities not explicitly cited by law), if the agency is now prevented from engaging in activities that are no longer explicitly authorized by law then you don't need as many employees, it's brilliant (Thank Vivek for seeing that and pointing it out).I bet those positions are not going to be replaced. Saving tax payers millions!
Called slackers for the most part. And after that, we’ve saved the costs of carrying 40,000 redundant workers.
Hardly a source of record for a deal like that. Why?
Possibly but this is just the first round, the next rounds of offers won't be nearly as generous. The pool accepting the offer will be the recently hired and nearly retired

I’ve had the displeasure of doing several contracts with the government of the years. You people are idiots.
