Mexico's War on America

Continues, so much so that even the NYT is forced to cover it:

And still, Bush does nothing.

The next president of the United States, from whatever party, will not achieve office without at least pledging to do something about the border.

I'll be amazed if any candidate is even willing to verbally come down hard on the border situation much less do anything----By ignoring it, Bush is having a damn hard time convincing me that he is concerned about my security and his reasons for continuing the war on terror seem weak. If I drive 200 miles south, I am in real danger and we are warned not to even go there. Pathetic.

I know Bush is just one man and the U.S. senate and congress has failed to act as well, but we are the government. We the people of the United States have failed as well. How many of us have looked the other way on someone's legal status in the country to save a buck. Don't get me wrong, if I were in charge. I would have M1-A1 tanks lined up on the boarder every 1/4 in spacing to act as a deterrent. What is it going to take? The death of a boarder agent? A smuggled dirty bomb that gets detonated in big city?

When you local government protects them there is very little a citizen can do but turn his head and wait for the next election.

ITA. It's rather pathetic. I have quite a few Mexican American acquaintances/friends. To the man they appear incapable of understanding that if they pay their taxes, they are getting just as screwed as an white man by the burden illegal immigrants place on our social infrastructure while contributing not so much as a wooden nickel.

I don't know about how it is where you live, but Bush's lip service is more attention than the topic gets around here.

I'm not sure libs run SA. The good ol' boy network damned-sure does though. This place reeks of political cronyism, and small-town mentality. I think they'd give up the whole town to get a PGA Village LOL.

Yes, but not everyone has looked the other way --- look at the Minutemen. And Bush called them VIGILANTES. So not only is Bush not interested in protecting the border, he's willing to vilify those who do because Karl Rove told him that this is the way to woo "the Hispanic vote."

Here are some great future Republicans:
