Poll: 57% Of GOPers Support Making Christianity The National Religion

Scary shit.

A majority of Republicans nationally support establishing Christianity as the national religion, according to a new Public Policy Polling survey released Tuesday.

The poll by the Democratic-leaning firm found that 57 percent of Republicans "support establishing Christianity as the national religion" while 30 percent are opposed. Another 13 percent said they were not sure.

It almost goes without saying that the Establishment Clause of the Constitution prohibits establishing of a national religion.

The poll was conducted among 316 Republicans from Feb. 20-22. The margin of error was plus or minus 5.5 percentage points.

Some time ago, I read of a poll that showed that 72% of Republicans believe some degree of governmental control should be put on our journalists.

Yes, its scary to see that degree of ignorance. These loons vote and they reproduce.

Around 75-80% of America identifies as Christian, I'm surprised it isn't a higher number

Nothing new about this. That is why this is placed in the hands of the courts. You average man on the street would throw away every freedom he isn't currently using at the drop of a hat, and probably the freedom he is using as well.

Its also a broad question. Ask it a different way, "Do you support forcing every american to join a national christian church" and you would get far less of a percentage saying "yes"

That is the thing about polls. You can pretty much get whatever answer you are looking for if you ask the right people the right questions.

Or uh gun
Scary shit?

You know what is even scarier?

........people who are so unintelligent , ill informed, and bigoted that they would actually stoop so low as to compare those wanting Christianity to be the national religion to those who lop off the heads of children.

This isn't merely the comparing of apples to oranges, but the comparing of apples to some strange, exotic fruit that only exists on an alien planet in a distant galaxy.

Coming from a poster that would abolish the Second Amendment in a heartbeat, seems a bit hysterical to be worried about others wanting to get rid of the first, doesn't it?

Meet the American ISIS

I didn't see any mention of slaughtering non-Christians or selling non-Christians into slavery, can you cut and paste the info about that?

And that translates to jihad for the low information left? If Christians were treated as well as muslems in the greatest Country in the world they wouldn't be on the defensive. Since the former KKK member wrote the defining opinion that treated the modern version of separation church/state in the 40's the radical left (mostly democrats) have used it to obliterate every vestige of Christianity in society. Today a kid can get kicked out of school for carrying a Bible but lefties were hysterical when the fake rumor went around that the koran was mishandled at Gitmo. A kid will be sent home for having a Christian icon on his T shirt but in some schools Christian girls are forced to don burkas to experience muslem life. Bible study is banned in schools but kids are taught from the koran. Muslem icons are encouraged but lefties (mostly democrats) succeeded, after several court cases, to force the city of San Diego to bulldoze a monument to Korean War Veterans because it contained a 40 ft Cross.
