I met John McCain once. He was approachable, friendly and intelligent. When he ran in 2000 against Bush I supported him. The way Bush and Rove trashed him was unforgivable. I could never understand the rapprochement afterwards personally, but McCain was a team player. A team player with the soul of an iconoclast.

He was an American patriot. A class act at times. I did not agree with him all the time but he always put America first.

The America of John McCain, the one that both sides of the aisle would or could work together, is not dead it is asleep. America needs a John McCain more than ever today,

He will be missed.

I've met him a couple of times myself. I agree with your sentiments. Thanks.

John McCain loved Arizona and I enjoyed listening to him talk about our state and his appreciation of our Diamondbacks, Cardinals, Coyotes and Suns. As far as politicians go, like most of them there were things I agreed with him on and others I didn't, but he seemed to me as a straight shooter and I respected that. He probably was a bit too much of a tactician and I think it costs him in the choosing of Sarah Palin as his running mate in '08, a spot she was unprepared for. not that it was any fault of her own at the time.

He'll be missed around here.

The Republican Party (at least the mainstream) is nothing more than Democrat Light. Both the Democrats and the Republicans believe in big government. The differences are actually minimal.

John requested Trump not to be invited to attend his funeral.

I think it would be something to have a "Wellstone type" memorial for McCain in one of Arizona's stadiums. Maybe President Trump wouldn't go to his funeral per se, but it would be nice to rally around and get the people motivated

John McCain knew he would not need Trump in or near his funeral and Memorial Services. Was and will be his final mocking of Donald Trump. McCain will be mocking Trump from his coffin and grave.
