It may well be in the electoral interests of Democrats to concede, and allow millions of Americans to be deprived of healthcare coverage by Trump and his Congressional toadies.

I'm not saying they have to concede. All I'm saying is that maybe they should consider passing this clean Cr. So that they can go back to the drawing board and hammer out the final bill.But at least the government would be open. A continuing resolution would get them to November that would give them a month, sit down and work on a final bill.

Also, if we're being honest, I blame both sides. There is absolutely no reason why these things should always have to come down to the wire. Why can't they be working on these things months ago? So that way, when we get to this point, we're not having to bicker about it.

The final bill should be done and agreed upon several weeks before the government shutdown is even a thing.

The "trade-off" you cite was a mandatory increase in premiums on healthier people to pay for sicker people. Basically, it was a step down the road towards socialized medicine.

We also have to note that one of the only ways anyone's costs were reduced was through government subsidies, another step in the direction of socialized medicine, and a severe vulnerability in obamadon'tcare, which cannot survive on its own unless its true costs are partially borne by taxpayers. We note that the Schumer shutdown was caused in part by democrats trying to continue increased subsidies that were created by Quid Pro Joe for COVID, which no longer are needed.
