Anyway, here goes, yet again:
Global warming weakens the Jetstream. the stream is what keep all the arctic cold air in the artic. When the Jetstream weakens is can bend and flex more than usual letting the cold down from the artic into the temperate zones.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA you made that up as we were getting them even more often during the global cooling time from the 1940's to the 1970's.
