Why is "Zionist" now a slur? Could it be for the same reason that "Nazi" is now a slur?

Because it represents a political philosophy that, when you get down to its basics, should be abhorrent to most decent people.

At the end of the day, Zionism is pretty abhorrent. It is moving into a land, displacing the indigenous people, and systematically oppressing them.
