Nearly a year after the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, a strong majority of Americans condemn it and believe former President Donald Trump is at least partially to blame. But partisan splits have hardened over time, with Republicans still largely backing Trump's version of events, a new ABC/Ipsos poll finds.

An overwhelming majority (72%) of Americans believe the people involved in the attack on the Capitol were "threatening democracy," while 1 in 4 Americans believes that the individuals involved were "protecting democracy."

Good video at the link, btw.

3/4ths of Americans believe the Jan 6th Rioters were "threatening democracy."

1/4th of Americans believe the rioters were "protecting democracy."

No way can trump be reelected president.

Which side do you fall on?

Well, that's a good sign.

I definitely have my concerns about the condition of this country, so that's nice to see.

Majority also voted for Biden. Doesn’t say very much about our country.

I saw the mentally ill orange guy is holding a press conference on January 6th to reiterate his election lies and to remind his insurrectionist cultists that he loves them.

I call fake news. The article admits to oversampling blacks and hispanics, "Threaten" is vague as hell and the actual text of the questions is not given.

Per your link.

national sample of 982 adults with oversamples of Black and Hispanic respondents. Results have a margin of sampling error of 3.5 points, including the design effect. Partisan divisions are 29-25-36%, Democrats-Republicans-independents.

So 982 people more Democrats than GOP. More minorities and as you know minorities tend to lean left. Shocking the results are what they are. The article is also an editorial bashing DJT. You are a very dishonest person Otis Mayfield

That is some well practiced, refined denial you have going on.

So you must fantasize that more democrats supported the cult insurrection than the polling shows.

You go ahead and run with that.

The point is, that the riot was a minor riot that resulted is a delay of a few hours.

You people are trying as hard as you can, to inflate it into something significant, so that you can try to distract from the fact that YOU people were the ones rioting a LOT, burning and looting and killing for years.

You people are the bad guys. And you are lying to try to hide that fact.

Yes, because it was beaten down by the police, and because our institutions held up against the criminal insirrectionists and the criminal president.

Naturally people see the first non peaceful transition of power in their lifetimes as a threat to democracy. It appears the only ones who don't are the cultists who supported it and would support it again.

The thing that destroyed our Constitution were the filthy Democrats stealing the election and the Swamp letting them get away with it.

The only person who died, was one of the rioters, an unarmed woman shot by a cop.

Wow. How utterly terrifying. I guess the "home of the brave" is an old fashioned idea that you kids these days are too sophisticated for.

Yes, that's why they adjust for that and break it down by party affiliation. Yes, they thought of that before you did. Seeing as how they do that for a living.
Why didn’t the OP state that? Also minorities were over represented and we both know generally minorities lean left. It’s just not a good sample survey IMO. Small and biased.

Red herring. If nobody was injured or died, the polling and opinionof the cult insurrection would be the same.

And every time some cult idiot goes on TV and tries to downplay it, they just make the threat look even more real. Every time an elected official goes on TV to lick Trump's butt and to nurture the Big Lie, it brings into even sharper relief the fact that it was and is a threat to our democracy.

So you guys go ahead and keep doing that. Keep trying to convince everyone there was no threat, while simultaneously and very stupidly showing the support the insurrection had and has among Americans and elected officials.

That's the corner you fools panted yourselves into. The floor is yours, knock yourselves out.
