Lying to ATF on gun-purchase form yields few prosecutions, data shows

Form 4473 — the Firearm Transaction Record — is a six-page document that must be filled out whenever someone buys a firearm from a licensed firearm dealer.

I just filled-out a 4473 this morning.....It's not six pages.....It's hardly one if you put it all on one page.

I don't know what the rest of it said but it started out as BS so I didn't bother reading it.

Market value and COUNTY ASSESSMENT OF TAXABLE VALUE ARE NOT RELATED.

My parents have been in the same house for over 30 years. They have a capped annual increase of taxable value of 3%.

They bought it for $230k, it is now worth $700k.

Should they go to prison if they put on a bank form that their house is worth $700k?

I told the lefties that I would buy any of their homes for the county taxable value. No takers.

That form? It's not a single page. I guess if you shrink it down far enough it is, but you could technically shrink War and Peace down small enough that it would fit on a single 8X11 page.

Most of it is legalese. Between the FFL and buyer they fill out three pages.

The article makes it sound like the buyer has to fill out six pages.....ie...BS.

On the gun application, it is not common to bring someone to trial for the offense, unless the gun was used in a crime and they found out you lied on the application to purchase the gun, they pile on your charges for the crime, with this crime in addition....similar to illegal marijuana use crimes, they are usually piled on to other criminal acts.....never charged and brought to trial for single usage. Trials are costly, and prosecutors are limited in trials they can bring that fit in to their budget, so 95% of the time, they work and take, guilty plea deals.... and give a Mulligan, with penalty outside of trial on things like this.

Hunter lied on a federal background check, then illegally purchased and illegally possessed a gun (three federal felonies). They didn't charge his accomplice with illegally disposing of the gun, which they should have.

In the gun shops I go to you don't even have to fill out a paper form, it's all done on an iPad, without all the "fluff" on the 4473-paper document.
