Hopefully, this leads to drug testing for all gun buyers. How many of them have cannabis in their systems when they buy a firearm? It may have been a month since their last cannabis use, but so what? Just do it.

He was never sentenced.

How many people have gotten a felony for bad bookkeeping?

NY State, has had dozens if not hundreds of cases where politicians and others were charged and convicted using the same law used in Trump's case since the book keeping law was created....is what I read in the news....they even gave the cases and names of some of the convicted over the years and the circumstances that lead to their specific cases....

It's New York....they had it, up to the brim, with all of his delay tactics while being president with all of Trump's different alleged crimes....Trump University scam and Trump charity scam had just been settled in civil court with him libel....but the trump organization crimes and convictions came after Michael Cohen testified before congress, then with prosecutors in person, and years of turning over records battles with trumps attorneys etc....delay, delay, delay tactics, which have served Trump well over the years....

Him running for President again was not in the realm of reality, when NY actually could begin investigating without as many Trump restraints since he was out of the presidential office....and as more prosecutor investigative discovery occurred, additional scams and crimes became evident, civil and criminal....

New York state had spent millions at this point just to get through Trump's law fare used, to not turn over evidence subpoenaed.... before Trump made his announcement to run again. His lawyers had already been notified that he was a TARGET in these investigations which is the heads up his lawyers get that he likely could be indicted....

Soooooooo, due to all of that above, it is unlikely that him running for President again, was the reason they pursued charges....imho.

1. Gun laws are silly and not worth observing.

No. It is being pragmatic. As with any laws there are only so many resources (money, time, manpower) available to enforce laws, pay for prosecution and jail time, etc.

Would you say the right thinks property laws are silly and not worth enforcing if they don’t prosecute a trespasser for just cutting through your yard and instead focus resources on a trespasser who is going around burning down barns?

Gun laws are no different than any other laws in this regard.

2. Since most law breakers are not sent to jail, why send Hunter?
