Looks like Americans need to learn about Trump the hard way

mYxoEcB.jpg
Probably the pride flag.

In a second Trump presidency, expect a scorched earth approach that could fundamentally reshape America and the world for the worse. "America First" will mean isolationism that abandons allies, fuels economic volatility, and drains American power abroad. Massive deportations won’t just disrupt millions of lives; they’ll dismantle industries, fracture communities, and create a humanitarian disaster that will tarnish the U.S. globally. Trump’s soft stance on Russia will only embolden Putin, with Trump likely abandoning Ukraine to destruction and threatening European security. A domino effect could follow -- China eyeing Taiwan, emboldened by America’s retreat, (and they are eying Okinawa islands, as well ) seizing control of the semiconductor industry and holding the U.S. at technological gunpoint.

Most nations have had to endure a demagogue to learn -- often through unbearable hardship -- the brutal consequences of unchecked power and the empty allure of populist rhetoric. Germany had Hitler, who promised national pride and left his country in ruins. Italy’s Mussolini sold visions of empire that led to disaster. Argentina saw Perón, who polarized the nation and left it grappling with his divisive legacy. Spain endured Franco’s authoritarian grip, Venezuela Chávez’s ruinous policies. And in Russia, under Stalin, democracy never stood a chance; his totalitarian control meant that the people had no opportunity to reject his tyranny at the ballot box.

Now, America too seems determined to learn the hard way about the dark force of demagoguery. Some might say, “But Trump’s first term didn’t bring the sky down.” What they overlook is that the first time, he was held in check by seasoned figures -- McMaster, Kelly, Milley, Bolton, Barr, et. al., -- the “adults in the room” who served as guardrails. This time, they’re gone. Trump will fill his ranks with sycophants, loyalists without the spine to question or halt his impulses. He’ll have nothing but yes-men willing to serve him without question and he will pepper his cabinet ranks with his oligarch buddies who will 'deconstruct the administrative state'. like termites enjoy a feast. The polluter corporations will love this, as they destroy our climate, our air, our rivers and lakes and precious soil. Expect rampant corruption and transactionalism. With his newfound belief in “absolute immunity,” he’ll feel emboldened to act without limits, trying things he never dared before. And with those private calls to Putin, he’ll have a seasoned mentor to guide him through “Dictator 101” lessons.

So yes, history repeats itself, and we seem condemned to follow it. Like Germany, Argentina, Spain, and so many others, America might face devastation and finally come to understand the full cost of demagoguery, what it's like to live under autocratic rule. I don't expect we'll become a full fledged dictatorship, but let's be clear, Trump will try and exploit any and every weakness that exists in our system that he can get away with, where the framers assumed the president would be a man who would act in good faith. Man, how wrong they were! And maybe, if we’re lucky, we’ll survive the wreckage, inoculated and wiser for it -- if we can find our way free from his grip in time. So, you think this OP is partisan tripe? Time will most certainly tell. Let's see where we stand in a few years, and watch Dems regain control of the house in the next midterms, as by then, America will see, up close and personal. what this MAGA movement is really about.

  • "As democracy is perfected, the office of the President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be occupied by a downright fool and a complete narcissistic moron." -- H.L. Mencken
No truer words could more perfectly describe the rise of Trump.

Now, repubs are going to gloat, and pontificate why Trump won. But, he pandered to the lowest instincts of Americans, he did what all demagogues do; blame our troubles on a group. Hitler did it with Jews, and Trump has done it with immigrants, totally ignoring the fact that the undocs commit far fewer crimes than American citizens, but facts don't matter to a demagogue, the only thing that matters is power, and the more, the merrier. Also, the second big tool he bludgeoned Biden/Harris with was inflation. But for the inflation, given that it's undecideds who decide close elections, Republicans did a good job of bamboozling the masses by blaming the inflation on Biden, never mind the fact that it was CARES act, $2 trillion fiat currency infusion (that was Trump) AND the ARP, another $2 Trillion by Biden, both were done because of the pandemic, and were necessary to prevent and economic collapse, this was the prime mover for the inflation, not to mention the inflation was world wide, and you can't blame Biden for a world wide inflation, but to tell the truth is not something Republicans can do. Also, I fault Biden and Harris for not making this point clear, and they sure as hell could have, and should have.

But for the inflation, I doubt Trump would have won the popular vote, most voted on economics more than any other factor. A lot more than any other factor. It totally obfuscated Biden's major legislative achievements, predominantly the infrastructure program. For the first time since Eisenhower we are rebuilding America, as there are some 60,000 infrastructure projects as we speak. Trump, in his four years as president, with both houses under his thumb, was unable to achieve it. Biden got it done bipartisan in his first 300 days. That totally dismantles the 'he's got dementia' argument. Yeah, you don't agree but I don't give a damn, really, I've heard it all and it's all partisan drivel. If anyone has dementia, it's Trump -- have you been paying attention to his speeches? He's losing it. I doubt he is going to last four years, to be honest.

Yeah, I know, some of you are going to give mindless snarky dumb AF one liners to this OP, and you will be ignored because, frankly, if you voted for Trump, you are not very wise. You've been conned, you've been trump humped. Note that intelligence and wisdom, if they exist in the same human being, it is a coincidence, If you don't believe me, let's see where we stand during the midterms. Two years ought to reveal how Trump is going to ruin America.
before trying to explain trump you should think about how much worse Harris would be and why she lost

The lack of reflection on the left is pathetic

Hopes up high, right Ace?

Guess what? Trump is too stooooopid, lazy & incompetent to achieve most of what he raaaaaaaaanted & raved about. But he'll give it the old MAGA Trump University try, with the help of his toadies like Elon who are only in it along with your boy for a huuuuuuge money grab.

Get ready for a bigly Dotard FAIL.
Enjoy - dumbass!

That interesting, at least my brains, unlike yours, knows the facts.
And the facts are:

Trump handed Biden a nation in shambles, and Biden will hand the next president a remarkable economy

Let's see how bad he will fuck it up, this time, just in time for the midterms. We took the house back last time Trump won, remember?

Why? Because he's a moron.

A lot of folks forgot, and the newcomers didn't do their homework.

They just saw inflation, and blamed it on Biden. The deciding middle are notoriously simpleton and wishy washy. The sad fact about democracy, is that the wishy washy often decide elections, and are easy prey to demagogues. If you don't believe Trump is a demagogue, you either don't know what the term means, is, or you haven't been paying attention, or both.

Of those men who have overturned the liberties of republics, the greatest number have begun their career by paying an obsequious court to the people; commencing demagogues, and ending tyrants." --Federalist No. 1, 1787
Those are not facts

In fact you have it backward. The economy was better under trump until the kung flu hit.

No one blamed inflation on Biden. He caused it. And it proves he wrecked the economy. When people with jobs are suffering economically the economy SUCKS it is that simple.

Upon Trump achieving victory a few few days ago the markets reacted, very favorably. The S&P 500 is on fire. So the experts believe that Trump is a strong and secure leader for America.

Stopping the millions of illegals flowing in, drilling more.......yeah it's so horrible. Sob sob sob.

No modern president has managed to "stop" illegal immigration, because that’s the wrong question to begin with. Immigration isn't some faucet you can just turn off. It's a complex, entrenched reality driven by demand for labor, economic conditions, and yes, the endless appeal of opportunity -- the very thing this country claims to stand for.

Trump's solution? To hammer away with blunt force, cruelty over common sense, as if misery were a valid policy tool. But here’s the kicker: his approach won’t just harm people; it’ll devastate the economy. Let’s look at agriculture, hospitality, construction -- industries that are the backbone of this nation, reliant on immigrant labor to function, because American workers aren't lining up for these roles. Trump’s policies would rip the rug right out from under them, all in the name of a short-sighted fantasy.

And you think this will create "security" at the border? No. It will create chaos -- more overcrowded detention centers, more families torn apart, more diplomatic friction. It’s a mess, pure and simple. If you want a real solution, then streamline citizenship, clear a path to legal residency, recognize the reality of our labor demands, and give these people a legitimate stake in the economy. Trump's way? It’s a disaster waiting to happen, one that will cost us in every possible way.

And, before you kneejerk the 'no illegals, no crime", i.e., that tired, baseless claim that immigrants -- specifically undocumented immigrants -- are flooding the country with crime. Let’s look at the facts, inconvenient though they may be for those who cling to this narrative. Study after study has shown that undocumented immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than native-born Americans. That’s right -- less likely. And yet, here we are, watching this myth get trotted out again to justify a policy of cruelty.

Trump wants you to believe that the border is a war zone, that undocumented immigrants are somehow wreaking havoc on a defenseless American public. The reality? This is nothing more than fearmongering, using scare tactics to distract from real solutions. The vast majority of undocumented immigrants come here to work, to provide for their families, to contribute to a society that benefits massively from their labor.

Scapegoating immigrants as “criminals” is not a policy. It’s a lie, it’s a distraction, and it’s a shameful exploitation of prejudice. If you want security, if you want an orderly immigration system that serves the economy and respects human dignity, then streamline the process. Create pathways to legal residency and citizenship. Put people on the books, where they pay taxes and are protected by laws. That’s how you ensure security -- not with draconian crackdowns and hollow slogans.

On the surface, "no illegals, no crime" argument sounds like ironclad logic -- until you realize it’s built on a foundation of sand. Here’s why that reasoning is, in fact, absurd: by that logic, we could eliminate all crime from any group simply by barring their existence. Why stop with immigrants? Why not ban every group statistically associated with crime and pretend that’s the solution? It’s a ludicrous way to address complex societal issues because it ignores reality.

The truth is, no group -- native-born or immigrant, documented or undocumented -- can guarantee a “zero crime” rate. Crime is an unfortunate but constant element of human societies, and it arises from countless factors: poverty, opportunity, environment, desperation. Singling out immigrants as though they uniquely introduce crime is not only wildly inaccurate; it’s intellectually dishonest.

This “no illegals, no crime” mentality pretends as though immigrants are the source of our issues rather than symptoms of broader systemic failures in immigration policy, border control, and labor demands. We don’t solve anything by blaming crime on immigrants. Instead, we need to address the economic and social factors that fuel criminality. That’s the real path forward, not the empty rhetoric of scapegoating.

Since there is a labor shortage, what we need to do is streamline the path to citizenship, or path to legal residency, so they can work and improve the economy. And, no, all the 'they are a drain' arguments have been debunked.

1. Paper ballots
2. Mail-ins only by excuse, like military
3. Early voting still ok
4. No votes accepted after polls close
5. Early votes counted before election day
6. All votes counted by local midnight on election day.
Add voter ID and documentary evidence of citizenship to register.

Here is what Bidenturds gave you over the past 4 years.
1. Super inflation over 4 years.

Inflation is a monetary phenomenon, it is where there are too many dollars chasing too few goods, a condition brought to bear when the fed expands M1, via QE's, faster than GDP can absorb the dollars. All other ostensible causes will NOT cause a rising trend without the monetary expansion occuring faster than the GDP can absorb dollars. You will merely have ups and downs on a flat trend line, just as you can't rise the aggregate level of water in a pool, where people in the pool cause up and down waves, but for putting more water in the pool faster than is being drained, which is the perfect analogy for the monetary phenomenon. Classic definitions fail to grasp what monetarists, such as Milton Friedman, understand fully.

Trump implemented CARES act, which infused $2 trillion in fiat dollars, aka 'quantitative easing' or QE in fed parlance, and did this towards the end of his term. Such QEs on that scale are inflationary, and the inflation takes about 6 months to a year, and more, for the dollars to circulate and result in inflation. Since Trump did this towards the end of his term, it wasn't experienced until Biden took over. Note that a president's fiscal year ends on Sept 31 into next year, and inflation began before his fiscal year ended. Biden did this again, with ARP, which infused another $2 trillion into the M1 economy. So, with $4 trillion new dollars, it results in 'too many dollars chasing too few goods', and that it the prime mover of inflation. There were other factors, such as the war in Ukraine and supply chain disruptions, but without the prime mover, all that would happen are temporal fluctuations.

The question then becomes, why did Trump and Biden do this? Because the pandemic threatened our economy to such a degree that drastic action was required to prop up the economy. Well, it worked, but every one had to pay a price for the benefit, and that price was inflation.

In summary, the pandemic was the cause, and the inflation and the pandemic was world wide. But, of course, folks the right won't acknowledge that, because the truth is not something Republicans are much into. I do fault Biden more not making these facts clear, they could have done a better job.

Given the inflation, what Biden did was successfully bring it down. :but of course, it wouldn't suit the right wing narrative to give him credit for that.

2. Remaining super high prices needed for delivering your food, your goods and stuff you get from Amazon.com.
3. They did not reduce your expenses for anything.
4. My health care on 2 diabetic drugs tripled. Biden did not help we diabetics.
5. Inflation hit homes hard.
6. Cars favored by Biden radically got more expensive.
7. They imported non citizens by the millions. Even though this country has a permissive immigration policy already.
8. Biden gave you Kamala Harris who you know lost her election. As she had lost hers when she ran against Biden. Biden gave you "I quit you America"

All your arguments hinge on the inflation argument, which I just debunked.

I realize inflation was the lie that Repubs used to bludgeon Biden, but it was not based on facts, and their argument, and your argument, is a lie that fails to acknowledge the facts, which are that inflation was caused just as much by Trump as it was by Biden, that the inflation was the price we all paid to save the economy from the pandemic, and the relevant fact is that Biden brought inflation down considerably.

Biden got passed, with bipartisanship, infrastructure bill -- because we are witnessing nothing short of a transformation on a scale unseen since Eisenhower’s interstate highways. Over 60,000 infrastructure projects are underway as we speak, and they’re not just patching up potholes. Biden and Harris are literally rebuilding America, tackling everything from crumbling bridges and outdated transit systems to water pipes poisoned by lead and broadband deserts that have left communities stranded in the digital age.

This is rebuilding America from the ground up, a national revitalization effort that spans every state, every community, every neighborhood. It’s an undertaking we haven’t seen since Eisenhower’s vision to connect the country, to lay down the very highways that shaped the economic powerhouse we became.

And let’s be clear: this isn’t some hollow gesture or PR stunt. This is serious investment -- $1.2 trillion. Real money. Real projects. Real progress. Roads, bridges, public transit, airports, clean drinking water, green energy -- it’s all in the works, folks. It’s jobs, it’s opportunity, and it’s dignity. Biden’s infrastructure bill isn’t just repairing what’s broken; it’s laying the foundation for a stronger, more resilient, and, yes, a more unified America.

Biden got it passed through both chambers of congress during his first 300 days in office, where Trump paid lip service to it and couldn't get it done in four years when he had both houses under his control.

What did Trump leave Biden?

The pandemic was not the cause. It was Governors that shut down their own states and caused mass unemployment to happen. I agree with you on Milton Friedman's excellent writings on the cause of inflation.

The people spoke, you're ignoring them. The best solution is to simply ignore the likes of you. You are of course free to whine, just don't expect anyone to give a damn.
Just because "the people" spoke doesn't mean those who spoke were right.

Just because "the people" spoke doesn't mean those who spoke were right.
Supposedly Democrats cured Racism when Johnson signed the law. So that was over 60 years back and you keep saying over and over Racism is doing fine. That it still exists. So why do you vote for Democrats with your way of thinking? From recent votes by Blacks, many of them gave up on Democrats.

Trump will declare a "National Emergency" to address the border to justify his culling of the American people, namely those with brown skin. Trump is an incompetent, stupid jerkoff who doesn't have enough brains, the attention span or even the will to enact policies addressing the intracacies of immigration. So, he'll declare a NE to keep the MAGA herd all riled up with that bright shiny object called immigrants, create a disaster then blame Dems.

Wash repeat for the next four years.

Having a bad week?
Not really. Life goes on.

Proud that you elected a common criminal as POTUS who beat the rap ONLY because enough stupid people fell for his bullshit?

And behind your back he despises you & is laughing at you & the break the MAGA cult handed him on a silver platter.

Enjoy!

Hopefully this is your farewell speech. Full of assumptions, inaccuracies and denial just like all of you Stage 4 TDS clowns. Move along Rumply, find another board everything you've posted was wrong and you are dead wrong about President Trump. Stick to crumpets and lawn tennis or whatever else you Limeys actually KNOW SOMETHING about. Buh Bye! :fingerscrossed:
Your comment doesn't rise above 'you're wrong'. 'You're wrong' comments without a serious supporting argument that is substantive, is incompetent.

FYI, 'TDS' is a thought-terminating cliche. TTCs are implanted into the minds of gullible followers in order that, when dissent arises about the demagogue leader, the gullible will toss it up in order to kill the conversation. It is also for the purpose of curbing critical thought. As such, is incompetent. The other big TTC is 'fake news'. Trump knows his followers are low educated, and/or stupid, Stupid people are easy to fool, stupid people use juvenile language. it is easy to preload stupid people such that their brains become buckets of thought-terminating cliches. Demagogues like Mussolini and Hitler know this, Putin knows this, and no doubt, during Trump's secret phone calls to Putin, Putin has been giving Trump 'dictator 101' lessons.

You are the perfect example of someone who has been brainwashed by a demagogue. Trumpism is a cult, and you are a cultee. You are hopeless, there is no cure. You, as the OP asserts, will have to learn the hard way. As time passes, the truths of the OP will be revealed.

Trump is a 4x indicted, sex abuser, conman, fraudster, criminal who loves Putin, the 'poorly educated', not to mention that he despises democracy and has betrayed America, and by these facts, is the worst president in history. These are incontrovertible facts, revealed by events, words, deeds, court actions, testimonies of women subjected to his perversions. Republicans have installed two perverts on the SC, and now one in the presidency, and if that wasn't enough,. they have given him 'absolute immunity'. This is a toxic recipe for disaster. This is proof of Republican stupidity taken to the highest level. They are clever, they know how to achieve power, they know how to manipulate masses, and because of this, they are dangerous and are a clear threat to US national security.
