I learned in special forces how to run an entire battalion. He was an infantry major, which means he was training to be a colonel.

Anyone who has made it up the ranks in an infantry battalion knows every job up and down the line or they end up getting passed over for promotion.

If you can plan and write an Operations Order, then you pretty much know everything needed to run a large unit. The bigger the unit, the more complex the planning becomes. I'm sure Pete has given a lot of Briefbacks in front of a large group of men or DOD officials like I have. I'm sure he's been to O & I school as well, which teaches you how to fill out the proper forms, as well as teaches you how to research military intelligence.

At the time, Ghani — whose government wasn’t a party to the U.S.-Taliban deal — told reporters he’d made “no commitment” to release Taliban prisoners, arguing prisoner swaps should be part of a wider peace settlement between the Taliban and the Afghan government instead of a precondition, the New York Times and Reuters reported.
