Even life of disabled people who can not work.

Even life of severely depressed people contemplating suicide.

A good resource Here.

Handguns kill 22,000 Americans a year or about half the number of Americans who died in Vietnam during the war. But the war took 5 years to kill that many.

The thing about handgun suicide is that the handgun is kept next to you in a convenient place, perhaps the glovebox of your car, and it's lethal.

Hanging yourself takes time and you might decide to wait and think it over.

Handguns are quick.

All these people offing themselves with handguns are pro-gun and it would be in our interest to see them survive.

Well alrighty. I have one gun that was most likely a suicide gun. Picked up a 1965 Colt Cobra for $20 at a garage sale a few years ago. Similar to the one Jack Ruby used on Lee Oswald. The pitting on one side of the cylinder and top strap are consistent with lying in a pool of blood, which often happens when someone caps themself...

Neat, huh? I also have a British .303 Lee Enfield I call my "death gun." Bought it for $10 at another garage sale, from a couple across the river. A week later, the man tried to kill his wife with an aluminum baseball bat, then sucked on a shotgun. No idea who ended up with the shotgun, I would have bought it though.

What do you propose?

So can stepping off a building. So can taking off your seatbelt and driving into a bridge abutment. So can a plastic bag over the head.

He was actually wrong. Guns don't always get the "job" done. Many people attempting suicides with firearms end up blowing their faces off or becoming permanently disabled.

No....criminals murdered 10,258 people in 2019....70-80% of the victims are criminals engaged in crime......of the rest, the majority are the friends and family of the criminals caught in the crossfire.........

Then you have the vast majority of gun deaths....suicide....23,941.....

Then, countering the criminals and the mentally ill...you have normal Americans, who own 600 million guns, and over 21.5 million of them can carry guns in public for self defense.....

They use their legal guns 1.2 million times a year to stop rapes, murders, robberies, beatings and stabbings.......according to the Centers for Disease Control....

So how about painting the whole picture....

Except in South Korea, Japan, China, Scotland, and other European countries......where they have strict gun control, and higher suicide rates than we do...by a lot....
1) Sadly most people in South Korea, Japan, and China do not view suicide as a sin.

2) Sadly many people in Europe are Atheist.

And neither one supports your idea about suicide.........they have higher rates of suicide with extreme gun control....guns aren't the issue.

They are -- they enable suicide.

Atheism and non-belief in Old Testament is also the issue. It is sinful and leads to many other sins.

As do tall buildings, bridges, rope, plastic bags and rubber bands, prescriptin pills, razor blades.....
