The concept of freedom, as promoted by libertarians, requires that we respect the rights of others. It means we give up the idea that we can push other people around for our benefit. Statists don't want to give up that power, which is why they despise libertarians.
The problem with Libertarianism is that it ignores reality, ignores that we are interdependent not independent. If would be nice if everyone could just do their own thing and live and let live, but it it doesn't work that way, and not because it's not a nice idea, but because it simply doesn't work. Society works, and for that you need a bit of go along to get along. It's cramps your style, which bothers me not at all...
