Let's stop being stupid... Kimmel's bosses were glad to have the excuse

I have a question, where are the black women late night hosts? There isnt one. Its all white dudes.

Also, explain this....Joy Reid made 3M per year for her show 5 nights a week. Rachael Maddow makes 25M per year for her show 1 night a week. The white woman makes 5 times as much for working 5 times less...and yet they canceled the black woman and nobody seemed to raise an eyebrow for that. Why not?

Disney pissed away 180 million dollars on a lame Star Wars show about Lesbian Space Witches,

Wait...what??? I have Disney plus and ive not seen this!! Im going home tonight and looking for this!!!

😁

Yeah he's no Johnny Carson, David Letterman or Jay Leno.. or even Conan Obrien. He probably should have been sacked long ago

I may im the minority here but my favorite was always Craig Fergusen....that guy was hilarious

If the FCC had not made the comments about Kimmel, causing ABC Nextar affiliate stations to pull the show, he would likely still be on the air.

Once the networks lose the affiliates, THAT is when their career is done. Conan only lost one affiliate in a major market, (Chicago,) and that stopped his career for good.
But then add in how much the show costs, vs revenue, and how does it stack up?

Colbert was losing 40,000,000 per year.

you lied the network is not losing money as you claimed

Kimmel did not lie

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,”
:itsok:

You know why Islamist Terrorist typically would use new converts to be suicide bombers don't you? its because new converts are always the most easy radicalized and who would go the furthest. You see this guy coming from a conservative family, but that's not what he was any more after he got indoctrinated in school and on the internet.
Political points are trying to be scored from the Democratic party, who immediately saw the Charlie Kirk assassination as a threat to them if there was any backlash. When it comes to politics, the Democrats are very very good in the way a hyenea is very very good, so it should have come as no surpise to you all the alternate theories coming out, how the shooter was a MAGA.

Yeah, the FCC is censoring speech they don't like, and big corporations are censoring people with unpopular opinions.
On paper, ABC acted on its own.

The FCC didn't even have to act. Nexstar and Sinclair had already decided to preempt his show before Carr made the alleged threat. (Proof available upon request)

Trump incited a riot and tried to overthrow the government.
It's nice that now we know if you say something like this on broadcast TV( a blatant lie) you can get sacked. Pleasant times are here.

If they cancelled the show at the end of his contract, sure, that seems reasonable.

But ABC is still going to pay him, so, meh. . . . . they are still losing money, but now? IF he isn't working or on the air, they'll lose more.

I heard, that his show was losing 32 million per year. I can't link to it, so I don't know for certain.

The Charlie Kirk remark was likely the last stranyw. After the May 18th dust up with Johnny Depp, ABC and Disney were looking for any excuse.

It will probably cost them more, as there will be free speech lawsuits, and they will have to pay for SOME content to put in that timeslot that no one will buy advertising for.

Here's the thing. Kimmel's Audience won't watch a rerun of a 10-year-old movie or TV show. They'll switch to Fallon.

And maybe that is the balance that needs to happen. John Carson was the King of Late Night because, for the most part, he had no competition. That Audience of people who can't go to sleep now had three choices. It might be down to one next year.

This isn't even close to being a free speech issue.
This is your standard corporate hide behind.
That overgrown, unfunny jackass pretending to be some kind of humorist was losing millions every year for the network. The network is a corporation and cooperations cut their losses.

I'm sure the issue of licensing also came up in whatever meeting they held.... But I'll give you dollars to donuts that they saw the golden opportunity to get done what they needed to get done anyway while blaming it on someone else.

And while we're on the subject if you've read the fcc's rules about general broadcasting I think the argument could be made that they're unconstitutional. Lying to the public is definitely a form of free speech. However being punished for lying is not illegal. The constitution enumerates rights but it doesn't protect against punishment.

Oh, so that justified the Presidency threatening a media outlet, does it?

Do you have any connection evidence between the White House and the FCC phone call reminding the broadcaster of the FCC rules? Now mind you .... I think a few of those FCC rules I read might have a constitutional problem..... But Trump did not fire Kimmel.... Ultimately his tanked ratings are what cost him his job.

Really? Imagine if Biden had done this, what would you have said?

There is freedom of the press. The President going after people who he doesn't like because they don't report him well.

And now this:

"White House takes control of press pool that covers Trump"

Is Trump really going for it now, trying to get control of the press so that he can control it before they kick him out of office?

"Trump Says Critical Coverage of Him Is ‘Really Illegal’"

And that.
