Let's stop being stupid... Kimmel's bosses were glad to have the excuse

This isn't even close to being a free speech issue.
This is your standard corporate hide behind.
That overgrown, unfunny jackass pretending to be some kind of humorist was losing millions every year for the network. The network is a corporation and cooperations cut their losses.

I'm sure the issue of licensing also came up in whatever meeting they held.... But I'll give you dollars to donuts that they saw the golden opportunity to get done what they needed to get done anyway while blaming it on someone else.

And while we're on the subject if you've read the fcc's rules about general broadcasting I think the argument could be made that they're unconstitutional. Lying to the public is definitely a form of free speech. However being punished for lying is not illegal. The constitution enumerates rights but it doesn't protect against punishment.
$70 million in ad-driven revenue for ABC year-to-date does that sound like a loss to you

There were a whole day's worth of events all over the globe that happened to prior to Jimmy Kimmel's firing.

Like I said after reading the FCC'S rules on broadcasting I can foresee a constitutional showdown on the issue.

However broadcasting is not politics it's a private industry and bosses in Private industry have a right to fire employees for no good reason at all.

Maybe he can get a wrongful termination lawsuit going but somehow I doubt it.

70 million is a drop in the bucket in that financial arena....

I suspect they were more concerned about the 6.2 billion tied up in the upcoming merger.

No ...Kimmel lied....
That's free speech
Kimmel got fired
That's managerial prerogative
The network was losing money due to
24 points in ratings drops
You do not understand how ad revenues work obviously.

Also your hormones are showing through your posts. Get some paper towels.

You accidentally outed another one of your sock puppets btw.... That's what happens when you post upset and emotionally distraught.

you lied the network is not losing money as you claimed

Kimmel did not lie

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,”

Kimmel lied...

24 points in ratings losses equals millions of dollars in ad revenue losses.
I didn't lie.... You're just stupid.

You outed another one of your sock puppets which really makes your post look imbecilic.

Nothing new with you.

You can drone on all day about guilt by association and who you think this kid was and who you think he wasn't. That doesn't save kimmel from having to own up to what he said. He has a right to his free speech, his bosses have a right to respond.

Yeah, the FCC is censoring speech they don't like, and big corporations are censoring people with unpopular opinions.

I can't possibly see where this can go wrong.
No, Chatbot. Little Jimmy was a loser.

The networks struck gold when the affiliate stations refused to air the show because it was an opportunity to fire the loser.

You are working on the assumption his suspension is permanent, which it probably isn't.
Very possibly.

If Nextar can get their acquisition deal through the FCC, it would surprise no intelligent person if Kimmel did come back.

The real question is why was Kimmel propped up for so long?

Little Jimmy won't be back.

Given how high his ratings were in the demographic advertisers most seek? It would not surprise me at least.

If the FCC had not made the comments about Kimmel, causing ABC Nextar affiliate stations to pull the show, he would likely still be on the air.

Fear I think....from a fringe segment that his employers were not totally sure of as to impact if they dismissed him. Maybe Kimmel can get them all ( 15 or 16 ? ) to do a buyers boycott.

For the same reason Colbert was kept around. He had leftist guests who gave the leftist networks a mouthpiece for their politico- religious ideology.

Nah ... His days were numbered already.
Admittedly the FCC pressure gave his bosses a delightful excuse that they we're glad to have.

Kimmel’s 2025 average viewership of 1.6 million is down 37% compared to 2015 totals.

However, the decline is even more significant among the advertiser-coveted demographic of adults, ages 25-54.

I bet their shows were funded by USAID. The CIA has been running Ops on Americans.
