The common theme?

There has been a period of 45 years where nobody was assassinated for their political views.

All of the most recent assassinations have occurred this year. I fail to see the flaw in my argument.

Like a lot of people who teach, pushing the main point is key factor in debating.

It's not Charlies fault if these people didn't come prepared. Most of them just wanted to be on camera.
Plus, there were a lot of people wanting to ask a question or debate him, and he had to make his answers short and sweet and to the point, so as many people as possible were able to get up to the mic.

It is totally Kirk's fault.

He knows what he's doing. He's not debating to get people to be better at debating and increase their skill. He's not trying to get people to be open-minded.

He was pushing his ideology onto people and dressed it up as "debate" or "conversation".

He could have set him whole thing up however he wanted. He did it the way he did it because that's what he wanted, to manipulate people.

For example he'd say he was in favor of free speech, but then he'd be against gay people, against black people, against women.

He was pushing for society to become more conservative, a type of conservative that tells people to conform or else.

That's hurting people and it will hurt people in the future.

I'd not heard of this dude before he got killed.

However my work colleague sounds like a less knowledgeable version of Kirk. He pumped the same ideas. This is what he "believed", and if you get enough people to believe that black people are inferior and need DEI in order to get them jobs, and if they are working they won't be qualified, and that women should be "Kinder, Küche, Kirche" and not be independent people, then yes, he's hurting people.
