Let's face it: there's no good reason to deny the construction of the ballroom.

The overblown childishness that he needs to get permission from Congress to build the ballroom—under which there will be doomsday bunkers for the president, his family, and other officials—is on its face basically absurd and definitely politically motivated.

With the largest obstacle being removed immediately via private donations, the only thing left for the opposers to do is drown in TDS and try to pretend that they actually have a legal status behind the arguments that they're making.

Honestly, I don't think anyone who does any serious thinking on the matter is fooled by the political chicanery involved here; and the historical preservationists are reduced to mere idiots in the face of the fact that the old structure is long gone.

"Private donations" are the exact reason why the construction of the ballroom should NOT proceed. There is no record of who gave what amounts, nor is there a requirement for an audit of the funds. This is the "Inauguration Fund" debacle all over again, and there has NEVER been an accounting or an audit of what happened to that money.

Who are these "donors" and what are they getting in return for their bribe money??? We will never know.

It doesn't matter once it's turned over it becomes government property.... It's ridiculous for you to bring up the subject since 80% of the donations flowing in to DC are private.. your only issue with this is politics.

No idea of what favors were provided for donations
Also donations are deducted from their taxes

Sure. A safe bunker under the White House is a damned good idea.

Current system is outdated and by some accounts falling apart. This is something that is long overdue. The history of the East Wing is spotty and rather insignificant. I guess Eleanor Roosevelt had an office there for a time.
I'm sure there are several trees on the White House property that George Washington's horse took a piss on at one time or another..... I mean so what?

You are the last person with zero moral high ground with which to preach from when taking into consideration the destructive acts of your party. Be quiet.
Which destructive acts?

  • Legal Challenge: The National Trust for Historic Preservation filed a lawsuit challenging the demolition of the East Wing and the construction of the ballroom, arguing it violates federal law.
  • Administration Argument: The Trump administration argues that the project is a "national security necessity" for the safety of the President and staff, rather than a mere cosmetic change, in a push to continue construction.
You understand the claims that the ballroom is a national security necessity is just a deceitful maneuver to get around congressional approval, right? Or are you more gullible than I thought?

The overblown childishness that he needs to get permission from Congress to build the ballroom—

Historical record is that no president has ever needed congressional approval when it is privately funded.

I'd like to see it built if possible using creamsicle orange marble with white swirls running through it, kinda like Trump's tan.

They can call it the orange room.
