Charged with a crime very similar to what she charged Trump with, but so much easier to prove, as it's not about alleged inflated value, it's about living in the property or not. She signed federal forms under the penalty of perjury saying she spent zero days at the property, it was strictly a rental, and she claimed rental expense deductions.

If found guilty about lying about living at a property she actually rented, the United States seeks to confiscate the property!

What’s interesting is that the indictment says she got the mortgages as a secondary residence.

We heard for months that she called it her primary residence. That turned out to be false.

For those who don't know, rental property has different underwriting requirements, come with higher down payments, a need for a higher credit score, and usually a history of legit landlording like collecting your rent and putting it in the bank instead of your pocket.

Now that said, having taken out commercial loans, and it seems odd, but sometimes we didn't actually sign the formal application until closing and it was an application that someone else had filled out based on the pre-approval and whatever flotsam and jetsam that came up along the way. If that application indicates you will be living in it, you will have to sign an Occupancy Affidavit at closing so that would have been a check if the application was filled out wrong. She will have a hard time getting around this charge if she put it on her application AND signed the affidavit.
