If you read carefully, they have to launch 3 missiles in order to get that 90% success rate.
So really each individual Iron Dome launch only has about a 30% success rate.

But the point is that is the incoming is not just coasting and can maneuver, failure to intercept becomes pretty much assured.

We are living in an era where at some point some rogue individuals may acquire or make some nukes. A limited attack may be thwarted. Terrorist groups are abound. Technology was created under SDI. Well, I'm mixed on this. In an ideal world, yeah, this should be spent on infrastructure. But I also think that given the time, Trump will get it done anyway. Meanwhile, where is the Congress? Don't they really control the spending?

It is a matter of priorities. Unfortunately, this golden dome is meant to address a key vulnerability in USA's defense against a modern military attack. Kind of important when you are going up against this country increasingly so anyway. But even so, we still face another key vulnerability from within: for decades, we have been stupidly buying and installing key components into our infrastructure all made in China that have hidden secret chinese "off" switches built into them that chinese spies can turn off anytime they choose.

I can understand your viewpoint .. but the system may not be as complex and difficult to implement as many may think . it could be something like what Israel has .. a missile defense system where defenses are strategically placed every few hundred miles on the coast.. remember we are half a world away from the enemies that Israels Iron Dome system defends against .. we would have ample warning if missiles were launched .. so yes an Iron Dome for the US to protect against long and short range missile attacks is very plausible ..

Everything I've seen on the Israelis iron dome, shows it intercepting and blowing up missiles almost right above them...does it work long range?

The reason I am concerned is....if someone ever decides to attack us with missiles, those missiles will likely be carrying NUKES, and blowing them up, right above our heads would or could cause even more damage?

Also Israel's square miles to defend is 7685 sq miles and the USA square miles is 3,797,000 sq miles to defend....even our perimeter seems way too spread out for the system to be feasible.

Absolutely, I am merely speculating that the money is being used for something else, that we do not know about....same with the money for space force....something is likely being hidden from us...

My opinion is based on our history on that kind of secretive stuff being done....and the ways the govt has hidden it from us in their budgets.

Because,
"Star wars" under Reagan was research in all truth but sold as if they did have the ability and means to send nuclear missiles very quickly to anyone trying to launch one.

They did the research but never solidified a program.
However.....
Now they do have a viable solution to the problem of ICBMs with a space based solution of protecting satellites.

It has its own set of capabilities and defects. The biggest being the "second shot" from any satellite. Lasers can solve some of that issue with getting set for the second shot. (Insufficient mass involved with lasers to move the satellite much....possibly just some heat)

The other is communications.
Now with even limited AI self guidance systems a satellite can maneuver itself for a LONG time without the need for people on the ground to reposition the satellite and aim it.

Also....
Golden Dome is worthless against stealth tech aided cruise missiles. (Stealth tech is getting past its expiration date for people to counter these days....meaning it likely is not completely invisible anymore) China has had its Silkworm missiles for a while now as well. Russia likely has something similar but has yet to use any.

Also high altitude magnetic burst will fry a huge section of the satellites leaving a several thousand mile open window for missiles to fly through. (Nothing operates inside that window for a few weeks except for a dumb missile)
