How to spot a con artist - Trump "we want to save money" - Trump "let's spend $25 billion on a golden......"

I never met a productive, enterprising business nor individual that was poor. Part of being successful is being rich, money comes with success. And key to success usually is quality and productivity, or as an old instructor once taught me--- either doing something no one else can do, or something no one else wants to do.

There are rich people and there are RICH PEOPLE. Those who are RICH have a tendency of bribing people, playing dirty, doing everything and anything to get what they want.

Take Trump, he did "pay to play" in the 1980s. Essentially he paid NY politicians and they gave him sweet deals that made him a lot of money, allowed him to be uber competitive.

Walmart, for example, bribed the US govt to allow their workers to claim benefits so they could pay them less, and operate very unsavory practices that put smaller businesses out of business, no matter how good these smaller businesses are, if they come up against Walmart and their immoral practices, what are they supposed to do?

Bribed how?

to allow their workers to claim benefits so they could pay them less,

Pay them less than what?

and operate very unsavory practices

Any specifics?

They oppose anything that is good for America.

What defense is needed here? The US has not had a missile attack on its own soil EVER. It already has a system in place that you lot claim works. So, why spend loads of money on something that supposedly already exists?

Bribed how?

They pushed for allowing their workers to receive welfare if they earned under a certain wage. How? How do you get such legislation through Congress?

"Wal-Mart Bribery Probe Said to Be in Final Phase"

Here's evidence that Walmart is not afraid of bribing people. They've been accused of it in China, India and Mexico.

They covered it up by paying out a very small amount

So, I wrote the title and "is this already being discussed?" gives me two threads, the second of which is titled "Trump and Musk Saving America Billions of Dollars"

Well, I stumbled across an article that says "Trump unveils plans for 'Golden Dome' defence system"

"An initial sum of $25bn (£18.7bn) has been earmarked in a new budget bill - although the government has estimated it will end up costing much more than that over decades."

So he's saving money, and then going off spending this money, inevitably, on defense contractors for some kind of defense that Reagan came up with too.

Reagan got the US to spend $200 billion of the US's money on this. And for what? A system that wasn't what Reagan said it was.

"Instead of deploying lasers and other high-tech weaponry in space, as proposed under Reagan, SDIO relies on interceptors based in Alaska and California, as well as aboard 26 naval vessels to shoot down any intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) fired at the U.S."

"In March 1983, President Ronald Reagan launched the Strategic Defense Initiative to develop and deploy an impenetrable shield to protect the United States from a Soviet missile attack. The ambitious and costly program, dubbed “Star Wars,” is now in its fourth decade, having consumed $209 billion while never being tested, even on a limited scale, in the heat of battle."

So, Trump is a scammer, telling everyone he's going to save money, and then.... proving he's not going to.

Will the dome have the capability to intercept hypersonic missiles? If so, maybe worth it?

What i don't understand is why we haven't hardened out electric grid from emp attack? From what I gather, it would just take a couple billion to do it.

Or will it just be money going to the big military bosses and then nothing comes out of it.

The problem with Trump is he just gets an idea and goes with it.

If this had been because of a long process of intelligent and knowledgeable people making decisions based on need... then people might be okay with it.

But it's not. Trump goes "What will my idiot supporters like?" and he comes up with a wall and this.

Sounds serious! Is that only for Walmart employees making under a certain wage, or everyone?

Thanks for the link. Where is the one for bribing the US government?

Yes, everyone can do it.

HOWEVER, to get this sort of thing you will probably end up with accountants and people who know how to play the system. Small businesses probably won't have that.

Walmart did it for a reason. Why?

The problem with evidence for bribery in the US is that a lot of bribery is legitimized. They wouldn't get done for bribery, even when it is.

Here's Walmart's PAC spending.

Spending about $1 million a year on PACs.

Lobbying is about $6-7 million a year.

Here's contributions, at least $3 million a year.

Bills lobbied in 2024, 22 different bills. Doesn't say whether they spent money promoting or opposing such bills.

This is bribery.

Walmart bribed to get welfare for every company's employees. Weird.

Spending about $1 million a year on PACs.

Cheap bribes.

Bills lobbied in 2024, 22 different bills. Doesn't say whether they spent money promoting or opposing such bills.

Or whether they ever did.

This is bribery.

Let me know when you get any actual support for your claim.

You seriously started a thread against protecting the USA from China and Russian nuclear attacks? Wait, Putin is that you?

If this had been because of a long process of intelligent and knowledgeable people making decisions based on need... then people might be okay with it.
No, you wouldn't, even if it were the greatest thing the world has ever seen, because it came from trump, you all would fight against it...

But it came from Trump.... we know he didn't spend the time to listen to people.

He's constantly making shit up.

He said he's putting tariffs on countries because they all have trade deficits with the US. The UK has a trade deficit with the US, not the other way around, so Trump put a 10% tariff on them and said the UK had a “We have a huge deficit with the U.K. Big difference.”

That was bullshit and anyone who cared to look at the reality would know that.

He said there's a genocide against the Afrikaaners in South Africa, when they tend to have a LOWER murder rate against them than the black people do.

He said he defeated ISIS in Syria... when the US hardly had any troops there, and what troops were there were training, rather than fighting.

He said he'd end the war in the Ukraine on day one... it's still going on 100 something days later and Putin is playing his for a fucking idiot.

He blamed Biden for his own Afghan withdrawal.

He blamed who knows who for the trade deal with Mexico and Canada that he himself made.

It never fuck ends.

So, when he comes up with this "we're saving you money", the first thing we do is smell the air, and it always smells of bullshit. And you spend 2 minutes looking into it, it smells even worse.

And so we're back to what I asked....does it stop hypersonic missiles? If so...might be worth it.

That was an inquiry. I don't know, but right now, we have no way of stopping hypersinic missles...so if this dome has that capability, then maybe it's a good investment.

It doesn't do anything right now, as it doesn't exist.

Wow. So the US should take over Europe too because someone might attack them?

Seems the US is a threat and Greenland should not be taken over by THE BIGGEST THREAT IN THE REGION.

The logic that a large superpower must take over any country that might get attacked by another large country is so flawed it makes me want to shit myself.
Trump could be posturing because of the conflicts between Norway and Russia over Svalbard with each side accusing the other of trying to drive them out.
