An air con unit is cheap enough to buy, and if I bought one, the climate in Southern Scotland means I'll use it for about 4 or 5 nights a year. And 4 to 5 nights of electric is cheap enough. So it would be a waste of money for me in buying one. The girlfriend wouldn't use it because she's the opposite, likes the heat and not the cold.

I lived in the SF Bay area, Silicon Valley for two years; I never needed an air conditioner, just a fan, and I used the gas heater exactly twice the entire time. And yet the morons still had rolling blackouts like every other week.

I don't use my ac unless it gets over 85 degrees.
Unless its heinously humid.

Heat doesn't really bother me, it's the humidity that gets me as soon as I leave the apartment.

Actually, if I could install one, I'd much prefer a swamp cooler than ac.
