Only an idiot would take Trump LITERALLY at his word; when he said he could get the war settled in 24 hours, he was just saying quickly, figuratively. Context is everything. Trump spent almost half of his first 24 hours attending necessary inaugural events, then he had to eat and get some sleep. So likely, nothing was going to even start until today.
Leave it to leftist oafs to now declare: "Broken promises! Broken promises!" Especially in all the huge broken promises by Biden--- that guy literally walked back everything he ever said, then did a total 180.
Realistically, he, Zelensky and Putin should meet face to face. Or at least Trump and Putin. Things like this take time to set up, they are normally too big to do over the phone. But I'm sure Trump will get something done, I would expect results quickly within the next couple of weeks if it is going to happen, which are really the "24-hours" Trump metaphorically referred to.

He was going to end the war on Election Day.
Then it got moved back to Inauguration Day.
Now, he's given himself another six months.
In the past, he has slavishly supported Putin, calling the invasion a "genius move".
Lately his rhetoric is showing signs of reversing.
This may be because he wants to appear to take all sides of the issue so he can always declare himself a winner, no matter the outcome.
Or maybe, it might be because he finally wised up and realized that if Russia lost Ukraine, it would be a huge victory for the US and NATO, and a stunning refbuff of Chinese power and influence.
Russia would be off the world stage as a major power, and it would only be China and the West.
Until recently, it appeared as though Trump wanted to deliver Putin's victory in Ukraine.
Now, he's waffling. Playing all sides. Hoping it will go away before he has to do anything about it.
This is his usual MO.
It would be nice if he did his duty and defended freedom in the world, as Americans have generally tried to do.
But he can't be trusted. So, we'll see.

“In terms of budget funding, we’re secured. [Former President Joe] Biden's administration transferred all the funds under the ERA initiative [$50 billion] to the World Bank,” Roksolana Pidlasa, head of the budget committee in the Ukrainian parliament, told POLITICO.
Ukraine’s military aid will also not be affected as Trump’s executive order applies to international assistance under the “development programs” of United Nations agencies, peacekeeping initiatives and refugee support programs, the Ukrainian State Disinformation Countering Center said in a statement Tuesday.
