He was going to end the war on Election Day.

Then it got moved back to Inauguration Day.

Now, he's given himself another six months.

In the past, he has slavishly supported Putin, calling the invasion a "genius move".

Lately his rhetoric is showing signs of reversing.

This may be because he wants to appear to take all sides of the issue so he can always declare himself a winner, no matter the outcome.

Or maybe, it might be because he finally wised up and realized that if Russia lost Ukraine, it would be a huge victory for the US and NATO, and a stunning refbuff of Chinese power and influence.

Russia would be off the world stage as a major power, and it would only be China and the West.

Until recently, it appeared as though Trump wanted to deliver Putin's victory in Ukraine.

Now, he's waffling. Playing all sides. Hoping it will go away before he has to do anything about it.

This is his usual MO.

It would be nice if he did his duty and defended freedom in the world, as Americans have generally tried to do.

Trump is Putin's last hold out in a go-nowhere invasion. We could have already had a deal if Trump lost and Putin knew that American steadfast support for Ukraine is not going anywhere.

Instead conflict goes on with total uncertainty and the only thing Trump's election did aside from extending it was weaken Ukraine's hand at negotiating table.

I'll give Trump credit when he secures a deal that can be reasonably called a win for Ukraine and a loss for Russia. Loser deals anyone can do.
