The only driver's license or state issued ID that could come close to being checked and validated in "quick time" would be the chip implanted "Enhanced Driver License/ID" such as is accepted at airports for boarding commercial flights.I do not know the total numbers, as that is not something the government will put out, but I do see the reports of arrests and being held for days, until their license ID would be verified. One guy was held for hours, as they would not accept his passport as proof he was born here. I kind of figure, that guy intentionally pissed them off, though. There are people that will intentionally piss off officers from beat cops on up, hoping to get a lawsuit or a scalp. Some people are just assholes, like that. But, as for the ID thing, if there are ICE officers that cannot identify a valid driver's license or Passport, they really ought to be in some other capacity or line of work, rather than on the streets.
If the cop that pulls you over for a potential traffic infraction can run a check and validate your ID/License within minutes, would think ICE can/does have same resources.
Any and nearly all push-back on valid and real identifications means and methods should be the first red flag of potential fraud and/or protection of fraud activity.
