Specifically , the Constitution says the Chief Justice will preside over the trial of THE President and Trump is not THE President.

You’re right. The Constitution doesn’t say who presides if THE President isn’t the one being charged. In that case, I think it will be up the Senate whether to invite Roberts or to choose Their own.
