DOJ can't change SOL's, they are set in the law by Congress.

Oh...

New York didn't change the laws on felony falsification of business records. Time spent out of state has always (well at least back to the 1970's IIRC) tolled the accoumulation of SOL time. Trump moved out of state to DC and to Florida.

What the New York Legislature did change was the time frame that women could file civil suits (which are different than criminal SOLs) for sexual abuse, rape, and sexual assault cases as part of the "Me Too" movement. While the "me too" movement had been around since 2006, it really exploded in the mid 201X (teens) because of big name sexual assault cases like Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein.
