2 – Did RomneyCare harm job growth in Massachusetts?
No. Numerous sources state that Massachusetts is currently growing jobs faster than 44 other states. Deval Patrick, the current governor of Massachusetts, revealed in an interview on Sept. 2, 2011 that the unemployment rate in MA (at 7.4%) is well below the national average (of 9.1%) and still going down. MA also ranks “fifth or sixth” in the country as the best state to do business. So did RomneyCare harm job creation in MA? No. Five years later job growth is very strong, better than the mcuh of the country in fact, and unemployment is considerably lower than the national average and continues to decline.
FactCheck.org also looked into the claim that RomneyCare harmed job growth. Their conclusion: “There is no evidence to conclude that Massachusetts health reform has cost jobs.”
