Just In: NSA Bulk Phone Data Collection Illegal, Courts

I agree. The data is already in the hands of the govt. and it has been essentially returned to the lower court, pending Congressional action over the next few weeks.
The next few weeks will be interesting to see what happens and how Congress decides to reframe the collection of this data going forward.
The house has already passed a revision to how data can be obtained thru hr 3361-
H.R.3361 - 113th Congress 2013-2014 USA FREEDOM Act Congress.gov Library of Congress
here is a record of the vote-

Just in bulk phone data collection by NSA ruled illegal by appeals court.
NSA bulk phone records collection illegal says appeals court ZDNet
Who is going to enforce it? Also, the damage has already been done. What checks and balances are in place to ensure that it stops?

It's easy to see this ruling being sidestepped by having Congress explicitly legalize the NSA's actions.

Hr 3361 I find would be much more reasonable. It is going to be something to stay tuned in to, and all need to contact their reps to let them know how they feel.
