Just got a 2,000 dollar ER bill

Those impoverished citizens who cannot afford medical care should not be condemned to die because of a lack of money.

I believe it is in our best interest to pay for their initial care, so it doesn't grow into more serious health issues.

If nothing else, how a nation takes care of the least of its citizens speaks volumes. We are a community.
I agree. But then there's those pesky 60 million lives snuffed out because of roe

I have no insurance. Not needed. Payment for services is never discussed when visiting a hospital. Because treatment is already paid for out of taxpayer funds.
SOMEBODY pays the bill. Why should whoever is paying the bill be paying for you? Would you like to pay for somebody else's bill?

You said you do not have insurance. Remember?
As though my lack of insurance impacts on other people's understanding of the concept. I pay other people's hospital bills with my taxes. As they pay mine. Do you negotiate with and pay directly your health providers or do other people pay your bills?

Taxpayers pay for my medical care, since I was in the crosshairs of Muslims during desert storm. Serving in hostile fire zones in Southwest Asia does the trick.

So all these people whose hospital care is paid for by other people demanding the moral basis for such a procedure?

Very deplorable.

Sure. Shooting up third worlders is a moral basis for others to pay for your hospital care.

I was in medical billing for some years.

Insurance ALWAYS denys first claims, ALWAYS. Doesn't even matter if they state they cover it in their insurance information list or not.

Doesn't matter if the bill is from a Dr office, hospital, clinic, or other medical entity..........the insurance will deny it.
You just don't hear about it unless it's something unusual, or the hospital is trying to get money up front and not have to deal with your insurance.

Just give it time. Wait 90 days and see if your insurance hasn't taken care of it by then.
You might only have to end up paying only a deductible, if anything.

You must live in a Socialist country then, with "open" healthcare.

In the USA, the first question they ask you is "How are you going to pay for this" or "Do you have insurance".
If you don't have insurance, don't give them a credit card to charge, or offer cash payment, they won't help you.

Well........the government funded hospitals will take you, but they are overcrowded, under staffed, and heinously an abominable place to be stuck in. Charity hospitals will also take you, but you have to wait in line..........doesn't matter what is wrong with you.

That is silly.
Medical bills are random chance, and individuals who are unlucky then should not be the ones paying it. It should be divided between all those who were lucky instead.
/----/ That's the first time I've heard LUCK was the deciding factor in the redistribution of property. Good one. LOL
