So the lies that it’s about anything else can stop

Letting the subsidies expire would cause a DOUBLING of premiums

Is that the new fearmongering? It will "Double" the premiums?

Why not get rid of it. It's been nothing but a failure since inception.

As for Johnson, he isn't lying. It is about a clean CR to keep the government open.

NOTHING gets added to it. Full stop.

I was wrong

It would MORE than double ACA healthcare premiums

/----/ Further proof the Affordable Care Act ain't affordable and never was. It only made HC more expensive. Thanks democRATs.

AI Overview

If enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits expire, CBO and other analyses project that premiums could more than double on average in 2026.

Now that your misconception has been cleared up do you feel differently? Or is tens of thousands of people not being able to afford healthcare insurance a desirable result for you?

Obamacare was full of lies such as

1. Your premiums will go down

2. You can keep your own doctor

Obama even had to bribe members of his own corrupt party to pass the damned thing, and they did it with Reconciliation which bypassed the democratic vote for Scott Brown in MA who ran against it and won. So much for democracy.

And now as we see, it was all a lie as premiums were all set to skyrocket, well after Obama was gone.

Moreover, as we see with the government involved with anything, there are no real promises you can rely on regarding them paying for anything. It is just a matter of the whim of those in power deciding what they will or will not do for us, depending on how the direction of the political wind blows.

Yet, dolts like you want more government involvement, the same liars and charlatans that gave us Obamacare which no one can afford now and will refuse to hold anyone to account for the lies that got us to this point. Any CEO who would have made similar lies about selling you health care would be in jail, but if you are a politician, they reelect you and you demand they lie to you even more.

It’s SO bad that I know people in their 60s who are getting such a wonderful “deal” (I.e., other people pay for it) on Obamacare that they dread going on to Medicare.

Think about that. Middle-income people are paying less for health insurance than elderly on modest fixed incomes!

Come up with cheap medical for people. Instead, you wipe your hands of it like Pontius Pilate and expect miracles for low rates. Perhaps if hospitals did not have whole wings dedicated to billing people through someone else paying, we would be better off. I am a realist. I see limits on medical treatment eventually for the aging and the sickly to start. Lawyers do not help.

Partly because of continuous Repub sabotage and partly because the ACA was a compromise bill that neutered its potential, it has only slowed the rise in premiums while allowing millions of Americans to have healthcare insurance. Which probably explains its popularity, and your disappointment.

While health care costs have continued to increase since President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law in 2010, they’ve done so at a slower rate than in the years before the law was passed.

A 2021 study published in JAMA found that out-of-pocket healthcare expenses increased at an average of 3.4% a year from 2000-2009 and 1.9% a year from 2010-2018, after the ACA. This may be partially attributable to macroeconomic conditions: inflation was slightly lower from 2010 to 2018 (1.77%) than 2000-2009 (2.56%). A 2020 Health Affairs study noted annual healthcare spending growth decreased from 6.9% (2000-2009) to 4.3% (2010-2018) post-ACA, and that though the literature debated the ACA’s role in this, no paper linked the ACA to increased growth in healthcare spending.

In 2023 dollars, healthcare spending per person was about $11,150 in 2010 and $14,500 by 2023.

/----/ "because the ACA was a compromise bill that neutered its potential,"
So why did Obozo sign a defective bill? He had plenty of time to negotiate a stronger HC bill.

We should go back to having free clinics for the lower- income.

Well, the vile dems have the chance this evening of ending it. It's all on them.

Hopefully enough of them got an ear-full over the weekend to buck Schumer.

If not then Oh Well, it sucks to be a vile dem.

He knew it would fail. That was part of the plan.

A friend of mine is an MBA, and she said she was taught that if the program you want is rejected due to cost, propose a different one that will fail. Then eventually you’ll get the costly one.

Obama’s intent was to win 2016 (via Hillary) and move the whole thing to a socialist program like the NHS in England.

Well, before Obamacare I was able to afford my own very good plan. Once Obamacare was forced on us, my costs doubled.
Which was okay because reasons and Obama, then Covid hit and we needed more subsidies, which was okay because reasons and Covid, then Covid crisis is over and we are set to go back to the way it was, but that's not okay because reasons.

Weird how that works.

And then the plan was to throw up their hands because the whole thing was crashing and just put everyone on a Medicaid-type plan. Lousy service, crowded, long waits.

But the politicans would still have their privileged plans.
