What a sellout punk.

As reported by Chinese propoganda news, the globaltimes.cn:

"US actor and WWE star John Cena on Tuesday apologized on Chinese social media after falsely indicating that the island of Taiwan is a country in a promotion video for his latest film Fast & Furious 9 to the island’s audience.

"Speaking in Chinese, Cena apologized to Chinese viewers through a clip posted on his Weibo account, saying he had made a mistake and he was very sorry about it."

...

"Cena stirred a controversy in early May when he participated in promotional activities for Fast & Furious 9 on the island of Taiwan and said it was the first “country” that could watch the film.

"Cena’s apology was welcomed by some Chinese netizens, who said he may have been guided by misinformation."

Hmm, last I checked, the Chinese civil war in 1949 resulted in the establishment of the ROC (Taiwan) and the PRC as separate sovereignties, complete with Taiwan having its own flag, anthem and seal.

Taiwan (traditional Chinese: 臺灣/台灣; simplified Chinese: 台湾; pinyin: Táiwān), officially the Republic of China (ROC),Taiwan - Wikipedia[f] is a country in East Asia.[16][17] Neighbouring countries include the People's Republic of China (PRC) to the northwest, Japan to the northeast, and the Philippines to the south.

This kind of garbage is where we're heading in this country with the disturbing trend of internet censorship, propoganda news sources, and cowardice/kowtowing to the CCP for financial gain.

What was he supposed to say? "Formosa"? "State?" "Territory?" PR-ing is all about selling tickets by any means necessary and it seems to me that China (mainland China, the country) is likely to purchase more tickets to see the film than .... uh .... er .... you know .... that other place.

The point is, he apologized for correctly calling it a country. Apologized. Why? Do you think the people of China wanted that apolgy? No, he did it to appease the CCP government so that they didn't take punitive action against him and his performances and earning ability.

Like I said, appeasement of leftist tyrannical censorship (for personal financial motives or just cowardice) is what will eventually result in this nation becoming exactly like CCP-ruled China.

“Sellout” is the correct term for musclebound apes like Cena and LeBron James

The CCP snaps its fingers and they jump

If they're going to invade, it won't be before the 22' winter Olympics that are scheduled to be played in China.

With that said, I am skeptical that China is going to invade any time soon. Invading Taiwan would entail killing a LOT of people and the world would be forced to respond. China has much more to lose than to gain in such a venture.

Holy shit what a fag

The USA supplying Taiwan with multi-millions in weapons which it does for some reason, would be like China supplying Puerto Rico with weapons and Chinese soldiers to operate them since the locals may not be intelligent enough to perform the tasks. The point is that island basically consists of Japanese infrastructure and Chinese citizenry for the past century. Why in the fuck would the USA have any say in the matter? Would China demand the USA not make Puerto Rico a state of the USA? Let's hope so!

Was planning on watching anyway.

He who controls the present controls the past

"He who controls the present controls the past"

Interestingly, that phrase was popularized by another group of corporate sellouts, Rage Against The Machine. Though I did enjoy the song.

I meant to say wasn't planning on watching it. But, yeah, we're living Orwell

What in the world are you getting at here? Notwithstanding that your post has nothing to do with the topic of this thread, there is no comparison between PR and Taiwan in terms of geo-political standing or population. There are almost 10x as many people living in Taiwan as there are in PR. The population of Taiwan is roughly the size of Florida or Texas. And what is your basis for suggesting the people of either PR or Taiwan are "not intelligent enough" to operate weapons?

As for your last sentence, you do realize Taiwan fought a civil war against the communist government that controls the PRC and does not want to be part of the PRC, right?

Osiris-ODS, do you your due diligence and apply common sense. That island was a wasteland and has been fucked around with by Asians and Europeans since forever. Japan stepped in and built an infrastructure based on their European skills and connections. Most of the residents who actually moved there and who were not exiled criminals were Chinese. Side note, Japan is a derivative of Chinese culture. Point is being afraid of China is being a douchebag. China has never led the USA into neocon wars. And China is probably the oldest, civilized country on Earth. And finally, average folks from "Taiwan" are obviously way smarter than average folks from Puerto Rico.

I've done my due diligence. You seem to think I have something against any Asian culture or people? I revere those cultures...here are just a couple quick snapshots from the room I'm currently sitting in at home.

Your comments about Japan being derivative of Chinese culture is such an over-simplification that it is frankly insulting to both cultures.

As for the modern day, you seem to be overlooking that Mao's cultural revolution destroyed much of the ancient Chinese culture. Temples and scrolls were burned, statutes toppled and crushed. Sound familiar?

Your analogy is not analogous.

When China yanks the leash, these big, tough hollywood types, and their big time, star basketball players heel reallly quickly....

Exactly

Well, only half right. As I said, China consistst of more than a billion people and that equals a whole lot of box office tickets. If China boycotts his film the consequence is clear.

Now you are displaying a rightest tyrannical censorship (which is exactly what the US already is) so there is no need for a leftist one.
