He then ran NY, presided over the increased use of Stop & Frisk ("Hood Rats") humiliating millions of people of color. He also presided over a catastrophic housing shortage, exploding rents and increasing homelessness, working class folks squeezed out into hours-long commutes. Crime rates fell during Bloomberg's reign, as they did throughout the country, and crime rates continued to fall after Stop & Frisk was terminated. Of course, the racist assholes still think slamming "Hood rats" against the wall was the reason for falling crime rates. If you see in that the war of the comfortable against those at the margins, you'd be correct.
I would love to see you take a walk across the west side of Chicago or the South Bronx at 2 AM without any police escort. Point was, NYC was experiencing horrific crime rates before Guliani and Bloomberg got there. The people in those communities demanded the city do something about them. They did something.
