The problem? What does subpoenaing the author have to do with a legislative function? Why are the Republicans wasting time and tax payers dollars on optics for a rabid base, instead of doing what they were elected to do, what they swore an oath to do?

As with the Jan 6 committee (117th United States Congress), both sides, appointed Democrats and appointed Republicans, get to ask questions of witnesses before a committee.

The committee Jim Boys-Gym-Shorts Jordan is chairing is throwing out subpoenas for show. It makes a mockery (as did Benghazi hearings and others he's chaired, or sat on), the legislative function and the Legislative Branch itself.
