A documentary about the Jewish chess legend Judit Polgár will arrive on Netflix

“Queen of Chess” pays homage to the Hungarian pioneer, still considered the greatest female chess player in history. Any fan of this game who saw Netflix's 2020 hit “The Queen's Gambit,” about a fictional orphan who rises to the top of the competitive chess world in the 1960s, probably couldn't help but think of the Hungarian Jewish chess star Judit Polgár.

Polgár was a chess pioneer who made history in a male-dominated world and is still considered the greatest female player in history. At 12 years old, she became the youngest to earn the International Master title, and at 15, she was the youngest to earn the Grandmaster title. Now, a documentary about Polgár will arrive on Netflix.

“Queen of Chess,” directed by Rory Kennedy, will premiere on Netflix on February 6.
