Jew vs. Athiest : Christians Judge

I've never met an unfriendly Jew
I like Jews...in fact, some of my best friends are Jews but we have to remember that they are a very small minority in this country and they are wielding entirely too much power for their small numbers. They seem to bring trouble onto themselves by being so vocal, so 'in your face'.

gotohell
Why? What have I said that is upsetting?

Your false accusation that Jews have too much power. That is what is upsetting.
It is the far left in this country that has too much power for their small numbers. They are 20% of this nation yet the run everything in this country.

neurotically phobic persons are hypervigilant. I am neurotically
afraid of dogs------and small running creatures (like THOSE DAMN RATS)
I tend to see them in every moving shadow in dim light. Bodec sees jews

I am not upset-----I am demonstrating my talent
That's your talent? Impressive, I guess.

Not at all...as I said, I have friends who are Jews....I love jews...but they are a very small minority....about 2% and they certainly make an inordinate amount of noise of their rights, their wants, etc. Why can't they just live their lives without all the fanfare and in your face? Asking that question is not hate.

It isn't a false accusation at all. Jews have a lot of power in this country, much more than their 2% would dictate. They are portrayed in entertainment much more than 2%, they dictate a large portion of our foreign policy, there are whole neighborhoods in cities dominated by Jews. Their culture, for the extreme Jews, doesn't match the rest of us and is quite "out there". Why can't they just be quiet...maybe they'd be accepted more.

Muslims are also about 2% and they are making more noise than Jews.

Same thing could also be said about Gay's and Muslims about being quiet, but then America who is all about the minority rights as well as the majorities rights, we would not be America.
Even our 1st President George Washington thought that Jews should be exempt from taxes for the upkeep of Christian Churches, because they did not believe in Jesus as the Messiah.

I don't believe they have the political and social power than Jews do, but you make a good point. What's up with that?

I would like to know why the White House invited the Muslim Brotherhood who sponsor Terrorists for a meeting and what was up with that.

You just proved one of the many examples I use when I say believing in god is not good for people. Your wife has been told smoking weed is evil? Do you see? And she's needlessly suffering? .

Hell yeah. I understand completely. I hope one of the many things people might take away from my posts is that God can contribute to a person's life and fulfill certain internal needs that they have, but religion can really **** a person up. I see it happening with my lovely wife and I see it in so many aspects of society as a whole. This is why I post on these boards telling Christians to stop being so judgmental and allow people to walk their own path, and why I tell atheists to stop hammering people of faith simply because they choose to believe.

Simply because you, for example, choose not to believe doesn't mean I should not be a blessing to you to the degree I am able. That is your path to walk and whatever I can contribute to your life should not be dependent upon your choices and beliefs matching my own. I don't recall Jesus forcing people to listen to Him if they were not interested. He basically said 'oh ok, you don't want to hear this? Ok. Well good luck to you then and I hope it all works out for you'. I don't recall Jesus giving love only to those who agreed with Him. I seem to recall Him praying for those who were killing Him. So if I am to follow the example of Jesus, the love, comfort, companionship, friendship...whatever that I have to offer you should not be conditional upon your acceptance of my personal point of view. I think that is reasonable and I would go so far to suggest that offering such things to another where there are conditions attached are really worthless.

But conversely, simply because I believe, why should you reject a positive wish or a positive offering that may benefit your life or your understanding of life simply because it comes from a spiritual place? Surely you have the capacity to take a spiritual message that I (or anyone else) give and apply it to your life in a secular manner that still benefits you.

What it all comes down to is tolerance on all sides. There is nothing wrong in someone believing if it impacts their life in a positive way. What business do we have telling someone that they must go through life on our terms? Neither is their anything wrong with not believing if that is the path that one chooses to walk. I tend to believe that God knows our hearts and he knows if there is good in our hearts or bad in our hearts. I tend to give God enough credit to be able to figure out what we are as people and whether we contribute or detract from society. And if God doesn't exist...I guess it doesn't matter huh? ;)
I feel the same way. Just because I dont believe in gods doesnt mean I dont want to leave the planet in better shape than I left it. Unfortunately we aren't doing such a good job of it but that's another conversation.

I think us athiests hammer theists because we believe its not good for man. Like I want to leave the planet a better place theists dont care because heaven awaits. Theists want to believe they will live forever. Athiests would like to believe the human species lives forever. How much do we donate to NASA and how much to church?

You are wrong on that.
The Bible teaches us (mankind) to be good stewards of the land and the animals.

So does Superman, Batman, The Green Hornet, the Hulk and numerous other mythical writings.

I think you are missing the point, Huggy. Sealy was expressing his concern that Christians may not have concern for the environment because their focus is on heaven and not the Earth. Peach merely pointed out that the Bible directs Christians and Jews to protect the Earth and take good care of it. Whether it is mythical or not is irrelevant to the point being made. Unless you are suggesting that because you find it mythical that Christians do not have a responsibility to care for the environment.

I have seen more miracles than I can count, just this past week, God, Personally, gave me one.

God hasn't disappeared, people have just given up on seeking Him.
Now I have to call this BS out. Most atheists were very religious themselves whether it was when they were an child/adolescent or adult. They had already seeked him and believed in him. Over the years the stories seemed like just stories, the validity of them disappeared and science and common sense had better explanations.

Also the term miracle is so open to interpretation. I have a friend that uses the term miracle for births. How can something that happens over a billion times a day be considered a miracle. (I included all life not just human)
And is death a miracle too?

It is a very interesting biological process
So why aren't Jews convinced about the Jesus story? Just good to realize its not just us athiests.

How come that isnt preached more instead of all the anti gay talk?

The religious in this country have a unholy alliance with the corporations who deny global warming. You see it in right wing posters on usmb all the time. Religious people who deny global warming because the bible doesnt foresee it.

They don't deny climate change, they don't believe that it mankind doing it.
Revelation tells about climate change very clearly.

Because they are being attacked for their religious beliefs and that is their 1st amendment right.
