James Talarico Says Black Churches Understand Jesus Better than White Churches

I look at MAGA Christianity™ as a separate, distorted sect from the real thing.

Their own rules, their own morality, their own standards, all revolving around one profoundly unwell diety.

Presumably they got tired of waiting for Jesus to return.
Or we don’t tolerate a gaggle of communist faggoloons telling us what te Bible says.

Where do democrats find these people? Talarico’s comments read as pretty darn racist™.

It’s understandable that Talarico, as a democrat wants to pander to blacks but I don’t think he understands that such slimy tactics have a way of alienating not just the target audience but a much wider audience.

Texas Democrat U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico said many white churches do not reflect the Jesus described in the Gospels and argued that black churches have a “deeper and more accurate” understanding of what it means to follow Jesus.

Speaking on the September 2024 podcast titled “Holy Conversation: Faith and Politics,” Talarico said too many white churches focus on the afterlife instead of on “freeing the oppressed and healing the sick and feeding the hungry.”

Saw my first ad on TV by him a while ago. He's marketing himself as a 'moderate' who just all concerned about 'inflation n stuff' as he's pretending to be grocery shopping and how he's going to help us poor citizens get cheap food n stuff.

lol fail.

Yes it is and Donald Trump has broken multiple laws of the land, regarding his treatment of immigrants and refugees. The "law of the land" says that people have a right to claim refugee status. That people the state detains have a right to humane treatment, decent living conditions, and adequate food and medical care.

That is WHY the courts are overturning his EO's, and issuing Order to stop locking up law abiding immigrants without cause or warrants.

You're projecting. I'm neither ignorant nor a demon but thanks for proving your own ignorance.
Your just mad they are being sent home.

lol the SCOTUS just buttfucked you.

Is that all you have? Give us examples smart guy. Vague and generalized allegations have no value. Do you have to achieve a certain number of posts each day even if you're saying nothing????? 15,000 posts in 9 months.

I find it disturbing that ICE detainees are made to sleep on the floors with no blankets. And I find it disgusting that they are worms in their food.

I find it disturbing that Jared Kuchner got $2 billion from the Saudi's and I find it disgusting that he's now asking MBS for more money.

Be specific about what things disturb and disgust you as a Christian man.
This isn’t the Ritz, don’t like it? Don’t come.

Muh food has worms. Prove it. I don’t believe of these lies.

I don’t buy that.

Christianity will endure,

It has survived repeated attempt to subjugate it to various political ideologies.

Talarico is right to the extent that many evangelical congregations preach thinly disguised white bigotry and hatred.

Thexe are not Christian or American values. But they are well represented among the Trump supporters here, and elsewhere. This kind of white bigotry represented as wholesome American family values has been a constant throughout the South and Midwest for over 100 years.
White self interest isn’t going away, don’t like? Leave.

Talarico is reclaiming Jesus for the Democratic Party

He claims Democratic values of helping the poor, welcoming migrants, supporting the working man are more inline with the teachings of Jesus
He is a lying, communist, ******.

Mormons? I have to say, I know next to nothing about Mormons as I don't consider them to be Christian

They have an excellent prepper program. I buy a lot of their foods and other supplies.

Mormon Prepper Programs and Preparedness Resources
Mormon prepper programs are rooted in self-reliance, spiritual readiness, and community support, with guidance from Church leaders and practical preparedness lists.

Church Guidance on Preparedness

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches that members should be prepared for natural disasters, illness, job loss, and other emergencies. This includes:

The Church also operates home storage centers where members can purchase long-lasting food items like wheat, rice, and beans, which can last decades when stored properly Church Newsroom.

Practical Prepper Lists

Mormon prepper lists emphasize physical and spiritual readiness:

    • Food storage: Rice, beans, canned goods, freeze-dried meals, powdered milk, dried eggs, and seeds for gardening www.weloveprepping.com.
    • Water: 1 gallon per person per day, stored in durable containers, with filtration and purification systems www.weloveprepping.com.
    • First aid & hygiene: Trauma kits, medications, soaps, disinfectants www.weloveprepping.com.
    • Tools & equipment: Generators, solar panels, hand tools, camping gear, radios, flashlights www.weloveprepping.com.
    • Security: Firearms, pepper spray, alarms, guard animals www.weloveprepping.com.

Community and Neighbor Support

Many Mormon preppers share resources and skills with neighbors, organizing bug-out bags, water filters, and manpower during disasters Emergency Prep Gear. This reflects the Church’s emphasis on community-mindedness and mutual aid.

How to Get Started

  1. Review Church resources like the Emergency Preparedness and Response Guide and Stake and Ward Emergency Planning Guide Church Newsroom+1.
  2. Build a 72-hour emergency kit for each family member, plus a 2-week home supply www.weloveprepping.com.
  3. Stock long-term food and water at home storage centers or through personal storage Church Newsroom.
  4. Create and update an emergency plan with evacuation routes, communication methods, and roles A Igreja de Jesus Cristo dos Santos dos Últimos Dias.
  5. Join or form a local preparedness group to share knowledge and resources Emergency Prep Gear.
By combining Church teachings, practical supply lists, and community cooperation, Mormon prepper programs aim to ensure families and communities can withstand any challenge while maintaining spiritual strength.

They're welcome where I live any day, especially over Muslims and La Raza Catholics. A couple of my neighbors have started their own plans at their churches. Still new but growing.

When you have to lie to refute a post, you simply look stupid and pathetic, Hollie.

When you deny asylum to refugees, and lock up children in filthy conditions, you are not behaving according to either the law or Jesus teachings, so can the bullshit. Jesus was VERY clear on that score, Hollie.

Matthew 25:

“41. Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons. 42. For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. 43. I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’

44. “Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’

45. “And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’

46. “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”
Forcing others at gun point to care for others isn’t charity.

Where did Christ say to give away your country to invaders?

NASHVILLE (BP)—Practicing Christians outpaced non-practicing Christians and nonbelievers in giving to charities including churches in 2022, the American Bible Society said in the latest release from its 2023 State of the Bible report

No question that they donate to their churches.
I question how much of that money goes to care for the poor.
Money goes to build magnificent churches that are used one hour a week. It goes for salaries of church employees and the pastor.
Community outreach is more about spreading the word and not feeding the bellies

Tithing is different from charity. Most churches are social communities, despite your silly attempts at propaganda. They do what they can for each other.

I realize you commies don't know the difference and don't care, you just need to lie and misrepresent Christianity and its doctrines. That's because yours are worse, and always rely on mass murder to solve all social and economic problems, but cant; ome out and say so.

For the unwashed cult members here.

Televangelist Jimmy Swaggart’s career was derailed by two major prostitution scandals. Caught with a sex worker in New Orleans in 1988 and detained with another in California in 1991, his massive multimillion-dollar ministry empire ultimately collapsed, costing him his national broadcasts and defrocking by the Assemblies of God. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

The 1988 Downfall
  • The Exposé: Swaggart, who famously criticized the moral failings of other televangelists, was caught in a sting operation in a New Orleans motel. The sting was orchestrated by rival preacher Marvin Gorman, whom Swaggart had previously accused of sexual misconduct. [1, 2, 3]
    • The "I Have Sinned" Speech: In February 1988, Swaggart delivered a globally broadcast, tearful apology to his congregation. He admitted to unspecified "moral failure" but did not explicitly detail his connection to a prostitute. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
    • Defrocking: When the Assemblies of God demanded a two-year rehabilitation program and a one-year suspension from preaching, Swaggart refused. He was defrocked by the denomination, left to start his own independent ministry, and lost much of his mainstream television presence. [1, 2, 3, 4]

The 1991 California Incident
  • The Second Arrest: In October 1991, California police detained Swaggart for reckless driving while inside a vehicle with another sex worker, Rosemary Garcia. Garcia alleged to the media that Swaggart had hired her for sex and tried to hide pornographic magazines. [1, 2, 3]
  • The Reaction: Unlike the emotional apology of 1988, Swaggart did not exhibit public remorse for this second incident. He returned to his pulpit almost immediately, telling his congregation that it was "flat none of your business". [1, 2]

Good catch! Who knew Swaggart was the leader of all Christians in the world, and the first and last word!

Thank you for your brilliant observations. Now go see if Mommy has a cupcake for you or something.

He hates what Christianity has become and criticizes it.

Talarico says he follows two commandments from Jesus
Love God
Love your neighbor

Fundamentalist Christians claim the first while they ignore the second
How about don’t lie, steal or worship false idols?

Why do you keep projecting your anger onto other posters, Hollie? Can you not discuss any topic or exchange information on any subject without losing your temper when questioned?

Given that I've spent half this thread posting about being a Presbyterian elder, your post is the truly height of stupidity, but thanks for the laugh. And keep shooting your self in the foot.

lol you suck at lying.
