It's Cold Out

Low of 4 degrees (no wind) here in the Shenandoah Valley this morning when I tracked through the snow to put the bird feeder out.....Two more days of this crap till it gets "normal" again.

At least I had the presence of mind yesterday to use the snowplow and plow me a path to where I hang the feeder after I cleared the driveways.....We got 4" of snow but that was on top of the roughly 4" that had not melted yet.

I used to hear the farmer who we leased a hunt club from say the same when it got blue-assed cold. He did not quantify the amount extra needed though.

Yeah every single school district around here is closed. I don't get it frankly. The cut off used to be -20 wind chill and we're not near that this morning.

Our problem is that we have so many mountain subdivisions that are frozen wastelands when it gets like this. They don't get that their 500K+ home "away from it all" comes with strings attached.

Of course, the dumb-shit school board gave them two weeks off for Christmas this year. I guess they never heard tell of snow-days, or maybe just don't care.

Oh well, they could have school year-round if they wanted to what with all the schools having A/C now.

Yep, pipes froze in my condo. Happens every year it seems. Neg 7 here today I will go ice fishing tomorrow. If my water is not back on by Thursday I will go back to the city for a while or go visit my daughter and grandchildren. I had a group of four friends go ice fishing on Sunday. You would not believe the picture they sent me. The were snapping big time. I hope for a similar day tomorrow. I hope there is a fish cleaner open somewhere I intend to catch more than I want to clean. Ice fishing here has been extremely limited the past few years. Just not enough ice. Can't wait to go.

We have legit snow on the ground for the first time in a long time here in Texas Hill Country. Two to four inches in some places.
