Hamas, like all other governments, is expected to, and required by international humanitarian law, to place any military objectives away from civilian areas and especially away from protected places like schools, hospitals, and humanitarian zones.

This whole idea of "there was no other place to put them" is silly. If Hamas' intent was to go to war while safe-guarding the civilian population, the 1000 miles of tunnels under Gaza would have been built as safe shelters. It wasn't. Why is that, do you suppose?
