1) Rhetorical question: How long did we fight the Japanese after the Japanese hit us with a surprise attack? Answer: We fought them until they were no longer a danger of attacking us again, and we fought anyone who joined them in their war on us until they were no longer a danger. Why would the Israelis be ethically expected to do anything else?

2) When surprise attackers attack, and then retreat and hide among innocent civilians, continuing to fire rockets from civilian population centers, directed from headquarters in hospitals, etc must those attacked simply shrug and say "Well, they're hiding among the innocent, so we cannot fight back. I guess we just lose?"

Israel will not stop until Hamas is gone. Long after the rifles are put down and the military action is over Mossad agents will scour the globe using facial recognition currently being cataloged by hundreds of videos turned into the Israeli authorities making permanent record of the offenders.
