I agree with you that in most countries where Islam is the dominant religion, the government has become controlled by the religion....all the more for us to learn from and never, ever allow religion to dictate to our Western governments. There have been Sheikdoms, Caliphates and Emirates as far back as the early 600's. These all were ruled by Islamic law. Nothing has changed up to this day with many Islamic theocracies...the main difference is the interpretation of the Quran and more powerful weapons systems....Egyptian Sayyid Qutb's writings are the fuel for terrorism, hatred of the United States in particular and the concept of offensive jihad.....and a perversion of Islam. Once Islamic factions began down the Qutbism road in the 1960's the world was never the same.
