" Hubris Of Contemporary Natural Law Theorists Alluding To Dogma "

* Legal Positivism From Reality Of Nature *

How is the life of an innocent unborn baby compared to the life of a guilty murder? Also it's funny that this question has come up because a lot of conservative Christians don't seem to understand that there's a difference between justice and murder.
Neither has constitutional protections .

A law exists because there is an entity capable of and issuing a retort for violations of some legal construct .

Albeit by due process , any which has committed murder has removed their own rite to life and become subject to moral relativism within nature .

A live birth is a non trivial requirement to become a us citizen , along with an enumerated rite to equal protection , requires live birth for equal protection .

Anything that can be alienated is not inalienable including life .

The success criteria of nature is survival through a sophisticated physical state that is required for sentience , sapience and introspection .

Pope Condemns God For Instituting The Death Penalty

VATICAN CITY — The supreme pontiff of the Catholic Church issued a sharp criticism of the Almighty Creator of the universe this week, as Pope Leo XIV publicly condemned God for instituting the death penalty.

When asked by the media to comment on critics of the death penalty, the pope singled out the Lord, offering a stinging critique of the Almighty for instituting capital punishment and questioning whether or not God was actually pro-life.

"I question God's moral standing here," Pope Leo told reporters. "Someone who says, ‘I'm against abortion,' but says, ‘I'm in favor of the death penalty,' is not really pro-life. So, when I read the Bible and see God instituting the death penalty and reiterating it multiple times, I wonder just how ‘pro-life' the Lord can really claim to be. I wish God had asked me what my thoughts were on the topic before he unilaterally decided on it."

The pope said that he hoped to persuade God to see his side and perhaps change His mind on the subject. "It's important for God to see this from all sides," Leo explained. "While it's important to be kind and loving to the unborn, we should also be kind and loving to unrepentant, violent murderers who continually prey on society and disregard fundamental laws of civilization to commit horrific atrocities."

Pope Leo went on to say that he would pray for God to have a softer heart toward murderers and reconsider His hardline stance on the death penalty.

At publishing time, Pope Leo had also questioned God's plans to build large walls around the New Jerusalem.

The church has put people to death for all sorts of reasons for thousands of years. Blasphemy, adultery, witchcraft, etc. The death penalty was super common back in the day. They burned little girls at the stake for crying out loud! They even tortured a bunch of very unfortunate people to death. :dunno:
There is no injustice for God's law of an eye for an eye.

If there is, what is it?

"I question God's moral standing here,"
I see that the Roman Catholic Church has done the right thing, finally, and installed a Gnostic Christian Pope.

It had to be so.

That or allow the LGBTQ+ issue would have killed it.

Reason and logic should lead all to recognize the immorality in the Yahweh/Jesus archetypal God that is such a nuisance to the Church.

The thread is about the death penalty

Yea nor nay?

What say you?

If I may.

Unworkable if there are more than one victim.

The God I know is all about compassion and loving your fellow person.

You put revenge or retribution above love as a value if you go eye for eye.

You cannot be seen as venerating life while taking it.

It can be about vengeance, but does not have to be.

What about justice?

How do you implement justice for taking another's life?

Additionally, they are more likely to keep killing

That is just a fact.

How is the life of an innocent unborn baby

A) not talking about babies, here. unviable means just that.

compared to the life of a guilty murder?

B) because that baby grew into a murderer. & i'd throw in rapists too - most especially pedophiles.

m'k.

This sounds like Babylon Bee!

It's very funny. . and as they say Many a truth is said in jest.

I'm not a Vatican II Catholic, for lack of a better way to say it. We haven't had a valid (visible to all the world) pope in something like 65 years. But Catholicism survives as per Jesus's promise (the gates of Hell will not prevail... Mt 16:18)

If there were only one true Catholic left in the world (and it may come to that because we are in the Last Days)

That person would--in my POV anyhow-- be the Catholic Church.

Fortunately, many, many Catholics are faithful to the true teachings of Jesus and His 2000+ year old Church... the Sedevacantist Catholics, especially.

Honestly, the only way they have survived till now has been the grace of God.

In the Old Testament, which I have actually read more than once, capital punishment is supported as being instituted by God even if the person only ATTEMPTED to murder someone.

So you need to take your concerns up with the Man Upstairs.. Humans cannot help you with this..

Your facts are wrong, given how nicely in recidivism in Northern E.U. nations do as compared to this side of the pond.

Justice recognizes that no political or religious tribe pops out murderers out of nowhere. Justice recognizes that these souls are formed by societty that says it venerates life and now thinks that can be taught to some by taking even more. Insanity is not justice. We must all take the blame we deserve and stop killing when we do not have to.

We learn from the living, not the dead.

The Catholic church
As the pope (can't recall which one) said to Napolean when he said he would destroy the Catholic Church:

"If Catholics haven't destroyed it, how are you going to?"

(something like that)

I disagree.

To let someone live who has taken another life dishonors and cheapens the life they have taken.

Killing a murderer is not murder. It is protecting society. It's really stupid to want to live and yet take the life of someone else, especially in a state that has the death penalty...

almost like Kirk's killer was asking for it...
