Blacks voted Republican for 100 years after slavery because Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. All Republicans did was help enforce Jim Crow. So when Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act, our second emancipation proclamation, and the Republican Presidential nominee voted against it, well, this is what you get.
