Zone1 Is it time to stop capital punishment ?

As an atheist, you reject an unjust and unloving God you envision because it is a different vision of the just and loving God I worship.

Then you sit round telling me what I should be doing and thinking as a Christian?

Sounds about right.
Im not an atheist but that is irrelevant.
America is generally believed to be a Christian nation. The Bible is clear on this. You do not address that.

We're going on a trip to Antarctica, you wanna go? Lemme know, I'll take care of everything.

Not California. They kept Charley Manson alive on life support till he was 90 years old.

He was a "special case", as he had a large following.

The state wanted him destroyed long ago, but Charlies "servants" told the governor they would react in a deadly way, and there was no stopping the death and destruction they would take out on society if they killed old Charlie boy.

Then they shoulda killed them all.

Some of the detail in the report is horrific.

Not least the number of innocent people who continue to be found guilty and the large number of people with mentaal health issues.

The system has been proven to be flawed and should now be consigned to history. Is there a moral reason why it is still retained ?
Get rid of lethal injection, for some reason they can't seem to get it right. Firing squad 5 shooters, one with blanks. We often end up paying millions of dollars per death row inmate, if they did something bad enough to end up on death row, firing squad.

Since you live in a country that doesn't have a death penalty then what difference does it make to you that some states in the US do have it?

Leviticus 24:19-22 And whoever causes an injury to a neighbor must receive the same kind of injury in return: Broken bone for broken bone, eye for eye, tooth for tooth.

Try again

Thou shalt not kill.
Ok, Ok,, I'll try again

Leviticus 24:19-22 And whoever causes an injury to a neighbor must receive the same kind of injury in return: Broken bone for broken bone, eye for eye, tooth for tooth.

So why do you think this is there then?

I think it should be used in clear cut cases, such as Lee Rigby.

I think there should be a national register, for or against capital punishment. Every person of voting age must be on it. Those against capital punishment receive a pro rata bill for housing offenders that would have qualified for the death penalty. When money is involved, eyes begin to open.

Leviticus is bollox. My scripture is better. It chimes with what Jesus wanted. And you know that to be true.

No, but I have decided to put your sorry ass on ignore.

Mentally ill serial killers are intolerable. And they get so much pleasure out of it, it makes them appear not to be mentally ill, but criminally insane.

I originally supported bringing back capital punishment but have long since seen the light, it has no upside for anyone.
Besides, taking folks who may really deserve a death sentence and forcing them into a socialist lifestyle in our prison system is a far worse fate but it too may also be abolished as it is a form of torture.
