I have traveled Russia extensively. The Russian people are good, hardworking folks, their leadership is horrible. You see, I’m not just an American—I’m a Russian-American. My grandfathers helped build the Soviet Union and fought for it; one of them died in 1942. The one who survived helped rebuild the devastated country and, together with my parents, built a new life.
That’s why russian history is very close to my heart. For decades, I’ve read memoirs, historical materials, and research—by various authors, both pro-soviet and anti-soviet. Based on this and on my own life experience, I draw my own conclusions.
You, like the vast majority of americans, at best read the headlines of anti-soviet articles in newspapers—or rather, you didn’t even read them, you just heard those headlines on TV.
And that was enough for you, like any american with a swollen ego, to convince yourself that you had grasped the truth.
You haven’t.
And it has been that way for most of its history.
