I would hope most folks wouldn't think that. Unfortunately, this day in age, a lot of people get the majority of their information from social media, general media and the internet.
Western Civilization was founded by Christianity and Christian principles. It is (quite literally) the foundation of our entire culture - whether people realize it or not.
Whether you're Religiously Christian or not is irrelevant - almost everything around your life was based on Christian principles/culture at some point- from our laws, ethics, morals, mannerisms, clothing we wear, the food we eat, how we eat, where we eat, when we eat, education systems, human rights, civil rights, freedoms, and so forth - (almost) all based from Christian principles/culture.
So if someone relates Christianity to being a "WASP" - they might want to go take a look in the mirror to see if that's what a "WASP" looks like.
That said - over the past 50 years or so - far right evangelical Christian groups have become the "face" of Christianity to many - although they make up less than 10% of the nations Christians.
It is the equivalent of thinking that everyone on the left is a radical antifa member and everyone on the right is part of a far right militia/hate group.
